Naomi Hansen Eastland December 28, 1918 - February 3, 2019

Naomi Hansen was born December 28, 1918 in Salem, Utah to Henry and Phoebe Hansen.  She passed away February 3, 2019 in Provo, Utah at 100 years old.

She was married to John William Eastland and had three daughters, Patsy Weston,(Malcolm) Valerie Combs (Donald), Linda Harvey (Rodney) and 2 sons, Billie Eastland and Steven Eastland (Erin).  She had two sisters, Beth Rowe (Paul) Lois Webb (Louis) and a brother, Elmo Hansen (LaPreal).

She has 20 grandchildren and 50 grandchildren and 2 great, great, grandchildren.

She grew up on a farm in Spanish Fork helping her Dad with hay and cows.  She finished her schooling in Spanish Fork and attended business school in Salt Lake where she met Bill Eastland.  They were married in Seattle Washington and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska in 1946 for Bill’s job.  Naomi took the 3000.00 which was all they had and purchased a 16 X 20 house with no running water and an outhouse.  She was able to live and flourish in a very demanding climate and made life fun and exciting for her children while Bill was working much of the time out of town.

Naomi was a skilled seamstress sewed most of her children’s clothing as well as teaching 4-H sewing and other adult sewing classes for over 20 years.  She sewed some dresses for weddings of granddaughters and Rainbow events.

Mother taught the first primary class for girls for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints in Fairbanks, Alaska for 20 years and was a valiant and life long member all her life.  She loved the Church and contributed service to many people.

She loved gardening and had a garden wherever she lived from the wilderness of Alaska to Spanish Fork where Bill and Naomi retired and built a new home which she drew up the plans for.

Even in retirement, Naomi made children’s clothes and knitted baby and children’s hats for the humanitarian program.

She was an angel Mother, Sister, Grandmother and trusted friend.   She left a legacy of self-reliance, hard work and a life well endured.  She could fix almost anything and this trait has been passed down to all of her children and grandchildren.   All were all blessed to have her in our lives.  She will be interred in Spanish Fork Cemetery.
