Monta Lou Frazier August 3, 1936 - August 2, 2025

Monta Lou Walker Frazier, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025 one day short of her 89th birthday.

Born August 3, 1936, in her grandparents home in Woodland, Utah, her parents Lamont and Luella Walker were thrilled to welcome their only daughter to the world. Born premature, she was a miracle from the start.

Monta Lou spent her youth wandering around the beautiful and pristine Woodland valley with her cousins and two brothers. Her parents owned and operated the Woodland Cash Store and Monta spent much of her time helping in the store and socializing with visitors who came by for supplies, many of which were aunts, uncles and cousins. She was well connected to her extended family and cherished these relationships.

At a very young age, it became apparent that Monta was born with an extraordinary gift of music. She studied piano for most of her life and this talent allowed her to not only share her gift with others but to teach hundreds of students over the course of her life. As a member of the LDS church, the ability to play difficult and various musical pieces opened the door to service at every level. She accompanied an endless number of singers and was the pianist for an equal number of church services and funerals. Always dutiful, she rarely said no to any opportunity to serve in her church callings or help a neighbor.

Monta married her childhood sweetheart, VerNon Frazier on September 15, 1955. They were very devoted to each other and together welcomed eight children into this world: Michael, Kevin, Perry, Nanette, Lowell, Bennett, Lea and Lauren. This family has grown to include 29 grandchildren and 43 great-great grandchildren.

Her love for family, her resiliency in difficult situations and her commitment to service is the legacy she leaves behind.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Hearthstone Manor for their compassionate and dedicated care and to Hallie at Utah Home Health.

A visitation will be held in Monta Lou’s honor on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Walker Funeral Home located at 187 South Main St., Spanish Fork, Utah. The funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation at the same location. Internment will be held at the Oakley Utah Cemetery.

What a talented beautiful lady. We grew up in the small town of Woodland where she and her family ran the WOODLAND CASH STORE. I truly admired her. I am sure she will be missed by her family especially. She will be very blessed and happy to unite with her soul mate. God bless all of you🙏
