Michael Paul White, age 52, of Salem, Utah, passed away on April 4th, 2020, after a painful and exhausting battle with Sjogren’s syndrome. This chronic debilitating disease rapidly progressed over the last 6 months, causing constant physical pain and intolerable fatigue, robbing Mike of his strength and ability to do the things that he loved.
Mike was born on March 17th, 1968, to Darrel White and Sherlaine Waters in Ogden, Utah. He was the youngest child of 4 with two older brothers, Roger and Steve, and his motherly older sister, Pamela. Later in life, he had the opportunity to become an older brother and get to know his younger half-sibling, Matthew.
He met his best friend and the love of his life, Shantel (Shanni) Bullock, in 1987, and they wed in July 1988. Mike and Shanni were young teenage newlyweds and parents who were determined to take care of each other and their little family from the get-go, despite seemingly endless challenges and trials. They built a happy home and life together for themselves and their 3 daughters: Britney, Jessie, and RiLee. Mike was a fierce protector, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he mentioned often. He was unendingly proud of his girls and always tried his best to support them. He took in and helped raise his nephew, Dakota Bullock, the closest he had to a son, until later also gaining his beloved sons-in-law, Lane Palombo and Logan Ericksen. Of his many roles and responsibilities in life, being Papa Mike to his two granddaughters, Peyton and Quinn, took the top spot. While Mike could be stubborn and reserved at times, he always melted like butter around those girls.
Mike could fix anything (literally anything) from electronics, to appliances, to carpentry, masonry, or elaborate excavation/landscaping projects. He would never give up on a project until he figured it out (sometimes to the concern of his family around him). Mike was also a passionate craftsman and artist and could often be found creating beautiful decorative and functional works in his garage. He took great pride in restoring his historic 120-year-old iconic Salem home. He had many diverse professional talents and always advanced to top leadership and management roles in any setting he found himself in. His natural entrepreneurial spirit helped shape and/or manage several successful businesses and corporations, including Precision Assembly, Utah Transit Authority, and most recently as a partner and owner in Spark Behavioral Health and TMS, an outpatient psychiatry clinic in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
He is survived by his wife, Shantel Bullock White; his children: Britney and Lane Palombo, Jessie and Logan Ericksen, RiLee White, and Dakota Bullock; his granddaughters, Peyton and Quinn Palombo; his mother, Sherlaine Waters; his father, Darrel White; his siblings and their spouses: Roger and Jeanne White, Pamela and Jim Carpenter, Stephen and Jan White, Matthew and Hannah White; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Kay and Jane Bullock; his brothers-in-law, Shawn Bullock, and Rory and Abby Bullock, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
There will be a closed-casket visitation for friends and family on Friday, April 10, 2020 from 9:30 a.m. -1:45 p.m. followed by private funeral services at 2:00 p.m., (for immediate family members only), at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main in Spanish Fork, Utah. April 10, 2020 at 8:20 pmDear White family I’m so sorry for your loss, I really enjoyed the time I got to spend with Mike at UTA. I was lucky to have so many conversations with Mike late at night at the shop. He was so pleasant to work with, talk to and be around. He was a great leader and so many people looked up to him. The world is a lesser place without him and I will always have fond memories of him. I wish the best for you all at this hard time. I know that one day you will be reunited with Mike and we will all see him again.

April 10, 2020 at 2:39 pmI was a new Director at UTA and Mike was new in his management role at UTA. Together we made things work. Mike helped me understand the lay of the land at UTA. He was not one to complain but rather just got after the task at hand. It was so easy to like him – he was kind and smart and thoughtful. It was clear how much he loved his family – and those grand daughters were everything. He would help solve any problem and kept his stress to himself. I will miss that quick smile and enthusiasm for his loved ones. He made a difference everywhere he went. We had planned lunch and a tour of our new buildings after the virus issue settled down. He had worked to make those buildings a reality. Rest in peace my friend. I miss you already.
