Michael James McKell, better known as Mike or Mikey, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Spanish Fork, Utah, at the age of 58.
Mike was born on April 25, 1967, in Provo, Utah, to Sadie Davis and Merrill McKell. He was raised in Spanish Fork, his hometown, and graduated from Spanish Fork High School, class of 1985.
Mike was a dedicated striper for Premier Striping, and he truly loved what he did. His work wasn’t just a job—it was a big part of who he was. For over 20 years, he worked side by side with his best friend of more than 40 years, Daryn. The two of them weren’t just coworkers—they were brothers. From long 10- and 12-hour workdays to still calling each other every night just to talk about the day, their bond was something rare and unbreakable. As Daryn shared, “Every single memory I have is with you.” Whether it was sharing a Coke for the road, talking through their headsets, or just being side by side in the truck, Mike made those everyday moments something special.
If you knew Mike, you knew he was cool, calm, and collected—but also the biggest smartass you’d ever meet. He had a way of catching you off guard and making you laugh when you needed it most. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met. Mike would move mountains for the people he loved, and he proved that time and time again without ever asking for anything in return.
He lived a life full of stories—the kind you laugh about for years. From getting into trouble as kids to cruising Main Street and making unforgettable memories, Mike made sure life was never boring. Everything around him had a story, and those stories will live on in the people who loved him.
He loved being outdoors—skiing on the slopes and on the water, hunting small game, and enjoying everything life had to offer. He loved sports and rock ‘n’ roll, a love he passed down to his kids. He loved his job, his work family, and most of all, he loved his family.
Mike is survived by his father, Merrill McKell; his children, Trevor (Zakary and Roenick), Brieanna (husband Nick; children Aurora and Frankie), and Dakota (children Kash, Beau, and Raelynn); and his siblings, Chet, Clint, and Logan.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Sadie Davis.
Mike loved hard, lived real, and left his mark on everyone lucky enough to know him. He will be missed in the quiet moments, in the daily routines, and in all the places where his voice, his laughter, and his presence should be.
A celebration of life will be held on April 25, 2026, from 12-4 PM at Canyon View Park Kiwanis Pavilion, Spanish Fork, Utah.
