Michael A. Griffiths October 14, 2026

Michael A. Griffiths (71) passed away January 24, 2025, from a cardiovascular incident at his home in Elk Ridge, UT. Mike was born February 14, 1953 to Roen Dean and Shirley Dimick Griffiths Selma, Alabama at Craig Air Force Base. They lived in Texas and Oregon before moving to Salem, Utah when Mike was four. Mike is survived by his mother, Shirley Jean Griffiths, Salem, UT, and six siblings: Janet Peterson (John), Provo, UT; David Griffiths (Sheri), St. George; Judy Davis (Brad), Spanish Fork, UT; Carol Griffiths, Sandy, UT, Douglas Griffiths (Michelle), Salem, UT; and Steven Griffiths (Gina), Salem, UT. Mike married Lynette Pearson June 29, 1973, in the Provo Temple. He is survived by their three children Benjamin Michael Griffiths (Jaime); Nicholas Arthur Griffiths (Lindsay); Amber Lynn Nelson (Matt); eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mike married Kristen Larson on May 2, 1998. They loved adventure, traveling, and learning together. Mike proudly encouraged and supported Kristen in her education and her award-winning art & design career. During her two-year battle with breast cancer, Mike devotedly and tenderly cared for Kristen until she passed on October 10, 2017.

The last four years of Mike’s life were spent with his fiancé, Tiffany Hepper, who was a loving and devoted companion to Mike. They loved traveling, swimming, hiking, shooting, and cooking together.

Mike was intelligent and a hard worker. As a teen, he picked fruit and moved sprinkler pipes and milked cows for the BYU Dairy. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1971, attended Snow College and graduated from BYU. He was an Eagle Scout and loved camping and playing with his kids in the outdoors. He majored in Recreational Leadership and his first job was with the Boy Scouts of America in Longmont, CO – a perfect fit for his love of fun and the youth, but not so perfect for supporting his family. He moved on to sell insurance and then became a self-taught IT expert. He retired in 2021 from his job at EMI Health as a network engineer and data base administrator. After retirement, he continued computer consulting for Altarama, owned by his good friend Arthur Brady. He also earned his pilot’s license and in 2023 started FlyViewUT – a drone video company videoing construction sites with drones for VanCon, Inc.

Mike balanced hard work with hard play – from kite-flying to shooting. He learned ham radio operation from his dad and Grandpa Dimick and erected a ham radio tower in his back yard. He always had the latest electronic gadget, and he loved guns and shooting. He got his Federal Firearms License (FFL) and started Griffiths Arms, LLC in 2019 to help people purchase firearms by doing background checks and transferring ownership.

He loved serving his community as a paramedic on the Salem City ambulance crew and working with the Utah County search and rescue team. Mike was an excellent cook and loved to teach cooking techniques to anyone willing to learn. He loved entertaining his nieces and nephews. He was generous and had a big heart. He was quick to help needy families or take someone under his wing. He had a tender heart, loved deeply, and was easily touched by acts of kindness.

A celebration of life in his honor will be held for family and friends on Saturday, February 15, 2025, from 1:00-3:00 pm at Mike’s home, 11321 Loafer Cyn Rd, Elk Ridge, UT.
