March 15, 1935 – March 6, 2025

Melvyn Eugene Myers, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, in American Fork, Utah, just days before his 90th birthday. Born on March 15, 1935, in Torrance, California, to Carl Rathbone Myers and Dorothy Ada Holmes, Melvyn led a life full of love, service, and dedication to family and faith.

Raised in Southern California, he attended Hoover High School before serving in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. After his service, he worked as an electronics technician for Hughes Aircraft in Orange County, contributing his skills to the aerospace industry.

In the early 1960s, Mel met Belia Quiroz, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints. He later joined the church and married Belia. They had Michelle, but only a few years later Belia passed away.

In 1972, Mel met and married Laura Jean Kimmel, who had two daughters, Lori and Lisa. Mel and Laura put their families together and shared many cherished years.

Mel lived in various places throughout his life, including El Toro, Fallbrook, and Glendale, California; Prescott Valley, Arizona; and Salem, Utah.

A man of many talents and interests, Mel found joy in woodworking, painting, reading, Westerns, puzzles, music, horseback riding, body surfing, sailing, and was a two time karate black belt.

His faith as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was central to his life, and he found great fulfillment serving as a temple worker in both the Los Angeles and San Diego temples.

Mel is survived by his loving family: Lori (Sam) of Salem, Utah, Lisa (Luis) of Wenatchee, Washington; Michelle Fabis of Spanish Fork, Utah; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dona Theisinger of Glendale, California.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wives, Laura and Belia; his parents, Carl and Dorothy; his son-in-law, Steven Fabis; and his grandson, Jared Fabis.

Melvyn will be remembered for his friendly spirit, hardworking nature, and unwavering love for his family and faith. His legacy of kindness, craftsmanship, and devotion to service will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held to honor his life on Friday, March 14 at 2:30 p.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 2929 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
