Maxine “Max” Jolley Rose, 74
Daughter, Sister, Friend, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother.
Maxine passed away in her home surrounded by her husband and children on Tuesday February 22 of 2022 in St. George, Utah.
(02/22/2022) “2’s day” This date is ironic because her favorite game to play was the “Deuces wild” the objective of which is to hit all 2’s.
Maxine was born on March 17th, 1947, to Virgil and Nelda (Chynoweth) Jolley in Tropic Utah.
Maxine Grew up in a large family where she was one of 10 children. (6 boys and 4 girls).
Max as she was often called, loved working on the family farm and playing with her siblings. Max was just as tough as her brothers and adored her sisters.
Maxine was classy, smart, kind, sweet, funny, and very stubborn, she knew how to get what she wanted, when she wanted it. She was also the kindest woman many had ever known.
In 1965 she met and married the love of her life Larry Arthur Rose. The two loved going to Lake Powell with their closest friends, camping anywhere, fishing at Strawberry Reservoir and any other outdoor activity where the two could be together.
Maxine was a phenomenal bowler and played in many bowling leagues throughout the years. She and Larry owned and operated Rose Interiors in Spanish Fork, Utah. Even after they closed the store, Interior design was a passion that she carried throughout her life.
After many attempts at conceiving their own children with no success, they decided to adopt. First, they adopted a beautiful baby girl from Orange County California who they decided to name Shantell. They were overjoyed at the love they had for her and a few years later decided to expand the family and adopt again. This time they adopted a sweet baby boy who they named Shad Lawrence Rose. Sadly a few short months later Shaddie developed health issues and passed away. The family and especially Maxine were heartbroken.
Max knew she wanted more children and after searching and searching she finally found their brown eyed girl who they named Shalaine all the way in Peru. Max knew in her heart that this baby belonged in the family where they could love her more than any other could. Over the years Max and Larry would share their home with many foster children as well.
Maxine loved being a mother but when she became a grandmother and great grandmother is when she was the happiest. She is survived by her grandchildren Branin (Chelsea) Boyack, Jess (Todd) Steed, Heather (Zeth) Gibson, Connor Janssen, Shayden (Jailyn) Glazier as well as 5 great grandchildren Rylee Steed, Kirra, Myles, Meya, and Kellan Boyack.
To them she was the world’s greatest “Grammy”.
She is also survived by her children Shantell (Clifton) Christensen and Shalaine Rose. Maxine also leaves behind her loving husband of 56 incredible years Larry.
Others who will miss her dearly are her brothers, Ned (Angel) Jolley, Dale (Diane) Jolley, and her sisters MonaMae Thomas, Marie Barney and Karel Hill.
Maxine has gone to join those who have proceeded her in death. Her son Shad (Shaddie) Rose, Her brothers Harvey, Max and Neldon Jolley, And her parents Virgil and Nelda. She also joins many other loving members of the extended family.
Maxine’s funeral services will be held on Saturday March 5th 2022 in Spanish Fork, Utah at Walker Mortuary.
Viewing will be held at 11:00am to 12:00pm followed by funeral services.
Thank you to all those who have known and loved Maxine over her long and happy life. We know she is now watching over us all.

March 4, 2022 at 8:14 pmSending our condolences to the Jolley family . We are deeply saddened with the passing of our dear cousin. She was always the life of the party…
as we reflect back on the Chynoweth reunions. It’s unthinkable that so many of Uncle Virg and Aunt Nelda’s children have passed away this year. We love you all and pray God’s love to surround you and help you through this journey as you try to heal.
We will miss Maxine.
❤️ from cousin Kristine

March 7, 2022 at 3:36 pmI am so sorry to hear that Maxine has gone on to heaven leaving those who loved her filled with sorrow. I only new Maxine because of her sister Monna Mae. We were good friends in High School. That is how I met her. I have lost touch with Monna but I was too late reading this to attend the service. The Jolley family had wonderful lovely girls and were delightful to be around. Wish I could have attended. I know she will be missed. As always we can looked forward to being with her again one day. Kind wishes and prayers are sent your way for now.
