Maxine Mae Taylor Curtis Church Adams, age 90, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2021 at her daughter’s home in Spanish Fork, Utah.
She was born to love and be loved! Born to love the Book of Mormon and share her testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. Thus, was the heart of Maxine.
Maxine is preceded in death by George Glen Taylor and Effie Novella Madsen (parents), Garry Vee Taylor and Brent L Taylor (brothers), Cloeen Taylor (sister), Reed Keith Curtis (husband deceased 1958), Wallace “Wally” S Church (husband deceased 1969 and preceded in death by wife, Venita Robison, in 1956), and Rex Bilby Adams (husband deceased 2013 and preceded in death by wife, Wilma Whitney, in 1968), Kelly Jon Adams (son), Shara Church, Isaac Thornton, Ryan Simpson, Alecia Curtis and Benjamin Jensen (grandchildren), John H Mickelson (son-in-law), Erlene Blackburn (daughter-in-law), Roger Fin Williams (son-in-law) and Verl Jake Bastian (brother-in-law).
She is survived by Audra Oldroyd (aunt), Mavis Bastian (sister) and 19 children, 73 grandchildren, 137 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren, all brought together through Maxine’s enormous love for all and marriages to Reed in 1948 , Wally in 1968, and Rex in 1970.
Maxine Mae was born May 25, 1930 in Aurora, Utah, to George Glen Taylor and Effie Novella Madsen in the back bedroom of her Grandma Madsen’s home. Maxine graduated from North Sevier High in Salina, Utah and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Maxine married her high school sweetheart, Reed Keith Curtis, on July 29, 1948. They lived in their hometown of Aurora Utah. Shortly after their marriage and with Maxine’s encouragement and knowing she was to give birth to Terry in a few months, Reed received a call to serve and left on a two-year mission to the East Central States Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
After returning from his mission, Reed and Maxine moved the family to manage a ranch near Kanosh, Utah in 1950. They worked together long hours for eight years. Becky Lin, Derrel, Debra Sue and Kevin came into the family. They enjoyed their time together working the ranch until Reed passed away July 8, 1958 in a truck accident.
Following Reed’s death, Maxine moved her five children to Aurora, Utah with the faith to overcome and conquer new challenges. Maxine worked in the insurance business and later completed her schooling in cosmetology. She then taught cosmetology in Richfield, Utah and ran her own beauty salon for many years.
While teaching, she met Wallace S Church (Wally) through one of her students. They were married on August 12, 1968 and resided in Delta, Utah. At this time, Doug, Karla, Louise, and Dennis (Wally and Venita’s children) became an important part of Maxine’s life. This happy time for Maxine was shortened, however, when Wally passed away November 12, 1969 during heart surgery – just 15 months after their marriage.
Maxine married Rex Bilby Adams on March 21, 1970 and moved to Richfield, Utah. Maxine gladly welcomed into her life six more children: Scott, Mary, Kristina, Carl, Cory and Kelly Jon (Rex and Wilma’s children). Two years after their marriage, Rex and Maxine welcomed their own daughter Kandis Lei to the family. Over time, Rex and Maxine extended their love and home to many others, including them as family. Virginia Kjar, Leonard Anthony, the Trotter family, the Diamonds and many others became an important part of the family.
Rex and Maxine eventually moved to Orem, Utah and lived there for 23 years. Maxine ran the color lab and did the bookkeeping for Rex’s photography business. Life was busy, but good. They later moved to the foothills of Fairview, Utah to enjoy a quieter life. After many years of living their dream in Fairview, Utah the couple eventually moved to Spanish Fork, Utah. Rex and Maxine enjoyed 43 years together until Rex passed away on May 18, 2013.
Besides spending time with her family and friends, Maxine had a passion for sewing, gardening, growing flowers, and camping in the mountains. Maxine was passionate about her callings in the Young Women’s program and enjoyed camping with them on many occasions. She enjoyed teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to others and sharing her testimony in her church lessons. Learning to index and do family research became one of Maxine’s favorite hobbies. Undoubtedly, her most fulfilling experience was found serving in the Manti Temple, where she and Rex served as temple ordinance workers for six and a half years.
Maxine loved her family — all of them. She worked tirelessly to serve God and to serve her family. Despite her challenges in life, her motto was “Make every day a great day and LOVE everyone.” Maxine will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her’s is a deep legacy of true Christlike love.
A public viewing will be held for all friends and family that would like to attend on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 6-8 p.m. at the church building at 1661 South 1400 East, Spanish Fork.
Due to CoVid restrictions a private service by invitation only will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 in Aurora, UT.

February 11, 2021 at 5:54 pmWe were neighbors to Maxine and Rex in Fairview, and grew to admire and love them both. I learned a lot from Maxine as she taught, served, and counseled. I have always admired her wisdom, faith, and love for her well-blended family. What an example she has been to us! We have missed her these last few years but will always remember Maxine and Rex! Love to their family!

February 11, 2021 at 7:25 pmWe loved Maxine and all of her family that we met through the years they resided here at Skyline Mtn Resort near Farview. They were so delightful to visit and were such a great example of service and love for all especially her gigantic lovely family. We loved visiting her in her Sr Apartment after she moved north and were so grateful for her family’s close attention while she lived there. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

February 12, 2021 at 3:42 pmMaxine was an incredibly loving and supportive neighbor to my mother, Lora Whiting, at the Abbington/Spring Gardens. Her regular connections helped my Mom through some of her toughest times there. The irony occurred to discover their shared Millard county roots- Maxine lived across the street from our Grandma, Vera Hilton. The geographic connection was a fun surprise but would not have been the relationship motivator- Maxine had a heart of gold regardless. I hope she’s written a new poem for the reunions on high. Love and much appreciation, Ann Whiting Orton

February 12, 2021 at 3:49 pmMaxine was an angel of love and support to my mother, Lora Whiting during their residence at the Abbington/Spring Gardens in Mapleton. Though they discovered they had shared Millard County roots, their bond reached well beyond the geography. Thank you for making my mom’s last years such a joy!

February 13, 2021 at 9:58 pmSuch a beautiful funeral Deb, Terry, Derrel, Becky, Karson, Kandi, Scott, Kevin and all who sang! Wow- she continues to live on as an icon of spiritual power and a legacy of love in each of you!
You could put her name in for Moroni’s here in Alma 48:17
Yea, verily, verily I say unto you, if all men {and women} had been, and were, and ever would be, like unto Maxine, behold, the very powers of hell would have been shaken forever; yea, the devil would never have power over the hearts of the children of men.
In fact all the descriptions of Moroni in that chapter fit Maxine!
We will all love and miss her and she is so blessed to have you as her posterity to carry on her good works!
Again – a beautiful funeral– thanks for sharing! Love all of you
