Early in the morning of November 22, 2023, Mary Lou Kruse Kimball passed away. Mary Lou lived a life committed to loving God, her family, her neighbors, and humanity. She found joy in singing and playing the piano, in flowers and feeling the earth in her hands, in cooking a new recipe and sharing it with others, in the devotion of her husband, in bringing nine children into the world and adoring each one. She was a mother to all.
Mary Lou was born November 8, 1939, in Provo, Utah, to Dorthea Lambson and Herbert Kruse. Robert Younger was her biological father. After living much of her childhood in Kemmerer,
Wyoming, she returned to Provo, Utah where she fell in love with, and married, Larry Robert Kimball. She cherished the kindness and support of the Kimball family. Mary Lou and Larry moved from Provo to Payson Utah, where they sent deep roots into the community and several congregations of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The early years in Payson were devoted to doing all she could to raise her family; the later years were devoted to her growing posterity, and to serving people around the world. Mary Lou and Larry served as missionaries in Zimbabwe, Toronto, Samoa, Montana, South Dakota, and Mongolia.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 64 years, Larry Robert Kimball; her sister Nikki Orton; her children Kevin Larry Kimball (Jill); Kirk Robert Kimball; Kenneth Kruse Kimball (Miguel); Kristen Kimball Hall (Dorne); Kamele Kimball (Seth); Karyn Kimball Williams (Chris); Kyle Rodney Kimball (Rachelle); Kip Lamar Kimball (Alisha); Kasey Alan Kimball (Kathryn); twenty-nine beloved grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren.
In answering the question “What are your favorite family traditions?” Mary Lou left a message to all who love her:
“‘Good night. Love you. See you in the morning.’ Always said as they went to bed. When my time comes to go home, it is my greatest and most fervent prayer that you will hear me say these words to you.
As I will be hearing them from you.”
A viewing will be held on Friday, November 24, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. On Saturday, November 25, 2023, there will be a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 780 West 500 South, Payson, Utah.
