Mary Joyce Heiner, 69, passed away in Elkridge, Utah on January 23, 2024. She was born on June 18, 1954, to Kenneth and Delpha
(Freeman) Meyers, in Eugene, Oregon.
Mary was the most loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband Kurt; daughter Christina (Jon) Linn; sons, Charles (Debbie), Jonathan (Ann-Marie), and Benjamin (Taryn); and thirteen grandchildren who she loves dearly. She is also survived by her sisters Carol and Beverly together with her brothers Kenneth,
Charles, and Frank. She was preceded in death by her beloved father and mother, as well as her youngest brother Robert.
She grew up in Springfield, Oregon and the surrounding area, graduating from Thurston High School in 1972. That same year she entered Brigham Young University, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management. Mary and Kurt Heiner met when Kurt was left by a friend at her apartment. The two quickly bonded over a project they had in common and before he left for his summer job he was able to get her contact information. They were members of the BYU International Folk Dance Team and enjoyed many activities together. They were sealed in the Logan Temple, on April 24, 1976. They have spent a lifetime of adventure in raising and being with their family, traveling, camping, dancing, reading, creative projects, and watching movies together.
Her greatest joys are her children, grandchildren, extended family, and serving others. She was naturally shy but was determined to move
outside of her comfort zone to meet new people and make them feel wanted and loved. She had the ability to make everyone who spent any time with her feel loved. She held many church callings. Her favorite calling was ministering to the sisters in her ward. Even when ward boundaries changed, she kept in touch with the ones she had ministered to previously.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Alpine Ranch Hospice for the compassionate care given to their sweet wife and mother.
Funeral Ceremony will be held Saturday, January 27th, at 2:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 185 East Ridgeview Dr., Elk Ridge, Utah. The Viewing will take place before the Funeral from 12 pm-1:45
pm. Mary will be interred at the Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Wyoming on Monday, January 29, 2024, next to her mother-in-law and father in-law.
