On January 16, 2019, Mary departed on a new journey. The destination, a family reunion that will be out of this world.
Mary was born on April 27, 1938 in Higgins, Texas to Ernest L. Cooley and Rachel Ellen Glennie. On April 9, 1947, Mary survived a tornado that claimed the life of her mother and baby sister. She came to Utah and was greeted into the family of Leon and Lucilla Jarvis of Palmyra.
She attended schools in Spanish Fork and graduated from Spanish Fork High School. Looking for some excitement, she headed to California to see what it held for her. After many years, home and family grew more important to her and she returned to Utah.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as a temple worker. She enjoyed crocheting afghans for family members, gardening and was an accomplished artist.
She is survived by brothers, Lee (Joan) Jarvis, Spanish Fork, Grant (Sandra) Cooley, Salt Lake City; sisters, Ann Moon, Orem, and Mae Hansen, Tooele; and many nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by both sets of parents; brothers, Paul Jarvis, M. James Cooley, and Larry O’Brien; sisters, Betty Cummings, and Rosalee Cooley.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
