Martha Jane Taylor Haws Singleton, 85, of Benjamin Utah, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, surrounded by her family.
Martha was born in Pecos, Texas on March 5, 1938 to Dan Taylor and Thelma Brazil. She grew up in Kermit, Texas and her family later moved to Mapleton, Utah. She attended BYU where she enjoyed playing the french horn and dating. She fell in love with a baseball player, Erwin Haws, and they were married in the Manti Utah Temple for time and all eternity.
After 49 years of marriage and Erwin’s passing, Martha rekindled an old friendship with Verd Singleton. They were married and have taken care of each other in a beautiful relationship for the past 13 years.
Martha loved to laugh, listen to music, sing, dance, play games, camp in the pine trees next to running rivers, sew matching clothes for her children, play the piano, watch Beauty Pageants on TV, put together puzzles, hold grandbabies, and be with family. She humbly served the Lord wherever she was called. Martha always had something delicious baked in the kitchen so she could share it with family and friends. Her tender heart would radiate warmth and love to all around her. We all agree that Martha has the purest soul.
Martha is survived by her husband Eldon Verd Singleton and her children, Jill and Bruce Reusser, Lynnette and Mark Van Wagoner, Mark and Henry Haws, Marla and Roy Rafael, Tim and Georgia Haws, JaAnn and Sam Bila, 15 Haws grandchildren, 11 Haws great- grandchildren, 21 Singleton grandchildren, 23.5 Singleton great-grandchildren, and 2 of her siblings, Melvin and Mike. She was preceded in death by her parents, late husband Erwin Haws, oldest brother Dan Taylor, and younger sister Mary Sue Witzel.
There will be a viewing at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Benjamin 1st Ward meeting house, 3278 West 7200 South, Benjamin, Utah, where a second viewing will be held prior from 9:30 to 10:45 am. Internment at the Santaquin City Cemetery.
