Marlyn Sue Mills
March 27, 1945 ~ May 30, 2021
Sue Mills, age 76, of Spanish Fork, Utah passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 30, 2021 surrounded by her family.
She was born on March 27, 1945 in Fresno, California; the oldest child of four born to Leland E and Elnora Evans Hornbeck. Her family lived in Calwa, California for a short time and later settled in their home in Fresno.
As a girl, Sue learned to play the piano which she would practice every morning before school. She attended Roosevelt High School where she sang in the choir, was active in yearbook, and was a part of the future nurses club.
Sue was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings throughout her life. Some of which included Relief Society and Primary President, Young Women’s advisor, Primary teacher, and girls camp cook. Her favorite calling was always playing the piano for the Primary children.
Sue always wanted to be a mother and raise a family. She was the proud mother of three daughters and two sons who were her whole life and brought her so much joy up until her last days.
She was a hard worker and would take jobs to make sure her children would be able to participate in activities that would help them to grow and develop their talents. She did daycare in her home and later in life worked as an aide at an elementary school and as a scheduler for a local HVAC company. She also enjoyed teaching piano lessons on and off throughout her life.
She loved to wallpaper and re-decorated with her friends. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, doing crafts, scrapbooking and water aerobics. She loved to go to the movies on $5 Tuesday’s and have movie popcorn.
She will be remembered by those who knew her for witty personality and her willingness to serve others. Sue will be greatly missed by her children who loved her dearly and whose lives are filled with sweet memories of their time with her.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Hornbeck of St. George, her children Debbie Coles (Brian) of Oak City, UT, Kathy Lynch (Wayne) of Lindon, UT, Ken Mills (Andrea) of McCloud, CA, Chris Mills of Fairfield, CA and Jennifer Mills of Redmond, OR, 18 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
She was precede in death by her parents, her sister Sharon Campbell, and her brother Thomas Hornbeck.
The family would like to acknowledge and give a special thanks to her hospice nurse Ceara Thompson of Bristol Homecare and Hospice, as well as nurses Valerie, Jody, and Leslie for the compassion and love they showed to our mom in her final months.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, June 5 from 10-11 a.m. at the Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah, followed by a graveside service at 11:30 a.m. in the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.

June 3, 2021 at 3:17 amDear family members of Sue Mills. Sue was Sharon’s best friend and they loved each other and surely they with their mother are embracing at this time and making up for time separated. Sharon was surely blessed to have Sue come and stay with her shortly before Sharon passed away in October of 2010. It has been a joy to have known Sue over the past 62 years and I am glad that we have kept in touch. She is very kind to others and accept people for who they are. Sue will always have a place in my heart. Fred Campbell
