Following a long but valiant battle with cancer, Mark Morris Andrus (58) passed away, surrounded by his family, on 30 June 2024.
Born 3 December 1965 to Darlene Hill and Richard Morris Andrus in Huntington Park, California, Mark grew to become our beloved husband, father, and friend. Mark’s childhood home was in San Luis Obispo, California. Here he learned to work hard as well as surf and it was here that he met his wife, Corinne Parkin. They were married in the Los Angeles Temple on 3 August 1989.
Mark graduated from Brigham Young University in 1994 with a master’s degree in accounting. Following graduation Mark worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Portland, Oregon, employed by Coopers and Lybrand, Price Waterhouse Coopers and Grant Thornton. They lived in Aloha, Oregon (1994-2001), Battle Ground, Washington (2001-2015). He transferred to Dallas, Texas where they lived in Heath, Texas (2015-2019). They moved to Pleasant Grove, Utah (2019) and finally to Genola, Utah (2020-2024) where Mark took an early retirement package to capitalize on his skills as an R&D tax expert and co-founded SPRX Technologies.
When the children were growing up, Mark made a conscious decision to forgo several personal hobbies in order to spend more quality time with his family. Though he did not truly enjoy camping, he was an Eagle Scout and went on monthly campouts with his sons. When they completed their scouting requirements he continued the tradition with his daughters as well.
Mark thoroughly enjoyed time with his grown children and loved to hear what they were experiencing and giving advice when it was sought. Mark and Corinne relished being together on road trips going absolutely anywhere. They loved travel of all kinds. Mark enjoyed having a project and completed his honey-do chores without a complaint. Mark loved to visit with and get to know people. As a result, he has a long list of friends from all walks of life. His favorite food was “Corinne’s carrot cake” but he was an avid fan of good food in general.
Mark’s retirement dream was to drive across the country stopping at local diners as he tried to find the best piece of pie in America. Even while undergoing chemotherapy treatments, he enjoyed watching “diner” shows and was looking forward to feeling better and trying his hand at cooking.
Blessed with a strong, beautiful voice, Mark loved to sing. He especially loved to sing at church and those who sat near him would often offer their gratitude for his enthusiasm. He appreciated many genres of music. Saturday morning chores with the children were accompanied by bluegrass music. Southern gospel music helped him with his outdoor chores during these past years. He was fond of music from his parents’ era and in turn loved to pass along his favorite songs to his children.
Mark was always an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served a mission in Veracruz, Mexico (1984-1986). He has served in many church assignments over the years, but his favorite was being an ordinance worker in the Payson, Utah Temple. Mark learned throughout his life that faith in Jesus Christ brought confidence, joy, and peace.
Mark’s love for life is carried on by his wife Corinne and their six children: Nathaniel Reid (Ashley Ream), Gregory Matthew, Jacqueline, Natalie, David Michael and Kimberly. They have two grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole, and Abigail Clara. He is also survived by his mother Darlene and his three brothers John (Kayleen DeLaMar), Daniel (Nancy Whetton) and Michael (Brenda Olsen). He was preceded in death by his father Richard (1936-2012) and his sister Lorana (1963-2003, Daniel Wallo).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2024, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 50 North Main Street in Genola, Utah. Visitation will be prior from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the church. There will also be visitation on Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Interment will be in Spring City Cemetery, 6500 East 14320 North, Spring City, UT 84662.
In lieu of flowers, please consider eating a really good piece of pie, taking your spouse on a date, and/or send the family a favorite memory or thoughts of Mark.

July 4, 2024 at 2:49 amWhat a great tribute for a great Man. Mark was my closest friend when we lived in Portland 1994-1996. We commuted to work together almost every day. I love the stories about pies. Mark taught me a great “Pie” lesson. Instead of using his overtime meal money on himself, he would stop on his way home to buy a pie for his family. I likewise adopted this selfless act after his example. I will truly miss my friend, but remember many life lessons he taught me. I have a short list of great men who have had an impact on my life. Mark is on that list.
