Mark James Williams August 19, 1958 - July 16, 2020

Mark James Williams “Cowboy” passed away while surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 16, 2020. He was 61 years old.

Mark was the fifth child born to the late William and Dorothy Williams on August 19, 1958. He grew up in Orem, Utah and graduated from Orem High School in 1977. On September 11, 1981, he married the love of his life, Ann Sorensen. The couple moved to Spanish Fork and Mark began working at Klune Industries as a machinist and continued to work there for 37  years. Together, they raised two sons, Colton and Bryson, whom Mark considered his best friends. His family was everything to him. He was so proud to be a grandpa and cherished every second spent with his grandchildren.

Mark’s smile and contagious laugh could light up a room. He had a spontaneous personality and passion for living life to the fullest, never holding back.  He was always planning his next big adventure, scouting out places he had never been and looking forward to where he would travel next. He loved spending time outdoors- farming, 4-wheeling, camping, hunting, and fishing. Whether it was going for a ride up the canyon or branding cows, he enjoyed sharing these moments with his family and friends.

Mark had the ability to make friends everywhere he went and was widely recognized for his positive attitude, kindness, and ability to make the best out of every situation. He found pride in working hard and possessed an inner strength to finish strong, an attitude that carried over into everything he did. If there was a job to be done, no matter how large or small, you knew Mark would be the first person there with his sidekick in tow, Molly, his four-legged partner in crime. He was always the last person to leave, making sure he gave it all he had. Every day, he would call his boys to find out what the plan was for the day or what their next project would be.

Mark belonged to a large family, who all loved him very much. Words cannot adequately express the joy he brought to our lives and how much he will be deeply missed by everyone. He is survived by his wife: Ann; two sons: Colton (EmmaLee), Bryson (Kristen); three grandchildren: BrennaLee, AddaLee, and Rhett; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, brother-in-laws, and sister-in-laws.

The funeral services will be a closed visitation for Mark’s family on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 9:00-10:30, at Walker Funeral Home, 187 S. Main St. Spanish Fork, Utah. A graveside service open to all friends will follow at 11:00 at the Spanish Fork Cemetery, 420 S. 400 E. Spanish Fork, Utah.

    Ann, Colton and Bryson,

I am so sorry about Mark’s passing. My heart just aches for all of you. Mark was one of the nicest, genuine people I know. He always had a friendly wave, big smile, and time to BS when I walked by. Often he would yell something nice to me as he drove by. His last one was “you have a hell of a green thumb!” We will miss him here in the neighborhood. Please know we are thinking of you and we are here for anything you might need.

What great memories Mark left all of us. His time on earth here was short but he made a ‘big footprint’ and lived his life to the fullest.
I remember when Mark married Ann and joined the Sorensen Family. He didn’t know anything about farming as he had grown up in the city. He had such a willingness to help with the farm work, learned fast, and became very relied upon over the years.
Mark and Ann came to visit John and I in Arizona for a week last February. We all had such a fun time. Mark has such a funny way of putting a spin on every story and had us all in tears from laughing so hard every night.
I will always look back and grin when I think of Mark and that cute smile he always had.on his face. I could never have had a better brother-in-law and I will miss you terribly.

Mark gave me a warm welcome into the Sorensen Family. Although we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, we had a great relationship. He was the first to help me with a project regardless of size or scope. I enjoyed our golf outings and have some great memories. He was a patriot, great American and friend. I will always cherish his memory and his and Ann’s friendship. Rest in peace my friend. Your job on earth was well done.

Williams family, I have been a contractor at Klune for about 5 years now and until reading this obituary I never new Mark by any other name but Cowboy. He was always kind to me. I always start work early around 4 or 5 am. Cowboy was always there to say good morning and wish me a great day. I never heard him say an unkind word and was always quick with a witty response to any conversation. I have missed his smile and greeting over the past few months and was saddened to hear he was sick. Being a contractor I am not always in the know so it is a shock to hear of his passing. Although I didn’t know him outside of Klune I feel I lost a friend. May your family feel peace and comfort during this time in knowing that you will see him again.
