Marilyn Rose Clawson Curtis April 8, 1938 - August 19, 2021

Marilyn Rose Clawson Curtis, 83, of Santaquin, Utah, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Marilyn was born on April 8, 1938, to Herbert Clawson and Rosa Reese Clawson in Pasadena, California. She grew up in Pasadena, enjoying the beach, Rose Parades, and New Year’s Day activities.

Marilyn attended Brigham Young University for a short time. On May 22, 1959, Marilyn married Robert Charles Middlebrook in Pasadena, California. They spent much of their married life living in San Diego, California, and then later moved to Spanish Fork, Utah. Marilyn and Robert had three children: Kathy, Mark, and Debby. Marilyn and Robert later divorced, and she returned home to sunny California.

Following her adventures in the single world, and experiencing dating, Marilyn rekindled a friendship with T.L. (Chub) Curtis. Three months later, Chub and Marilyn were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. They were happily married for 29 years until Chub passed away in 2019. Marilyn missed Chub but continued diligently living each day to its fullest.

Marilyn loved family gatherings, four-wheeling or snuggling on the couch with Chub. Marilyn loved being with her grandchildren and enjoyed the special birthday lunches she had with them. She had wonderful friends groups whereever she lived. From her Toquerville quilt group to her Salem book club, who went on many trips together and shared many fun times.

Marilyn was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and lived each day faithfully.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sweet, Chub. Marilyn is survived by her children: Kathy Middlebrook of Lehi, Matt Kerr of Lehi, Mark (Lynda) of Springville, Debby (Mardi) of Mission Viejo, California; and her three step-children, whom she loved as her own children: Emilee (Scott) Stoery of Oregon, John Curtis of Salem, Mark (Caroline) Curtis of Sandy, and Paula Curtis of Salem. Also survived by her brothers: Steve (Karan) Clawson of Orem, Jim (Irene) Clawson of California; and her in-laws, Jayne (Tim) Anderson, Fern Curtis, and Maryan Curtis. Marilyn and Chub had 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many furry babies … she was proud of each of them.

Dear Kathy, Mark, Debbie and families,
I send my deepest condolences to all of you on the loss of your dear, sweet mother.
Even though she lived in Utah and I in California, we never lost that special bond between us after all these years from the early 60’s til now. I will greatly miss picking up the phone and giving her a
call every so often to catch up on family news, but I will still have cherished memories to keep her alive in my heart. My heart goes out to all of you as I send my love and prayers. May God bless each and every one of you and give you peace and consolation.
    In love and caring, Carol
