Marilyn Monk took her final journey and returned to our Heavenly Father on March 19, 2022. Marilyn was born in Palmyra, Utah, October 1, 1940, to loving parents, Edward William and Donna Clayson Monk.  Being blessed with two younger brothers, Duane Edward and David Leon, the family was completed.

Marilyn grew up in Palmyra and Mount Pleasant, Utah.  After completing her North Sanpete High School education, she went to various colleges including Snow College and Stevens Henagar where she received her associate degree in accounting.  She received additional schooling from Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and Yuba College in California.

She started her career at Squire and Company in Provo.  She then moved to Hawaii and continued her career with the CPA firm Martin Rosenberg. While in Hawaii, she began a new interest working for Hawaii Fielding Tours. Then she returned to the Mainland to work for Yolo County in California.  Back to Utah, she was employed again with Squire and Company.  Enjoying her experience in the travel industry in Hawaii, she began full-time work with Travel Town, Classic Travel, and Christofferson Travel.  Her final and most beloved job was at Chillon Reception Center where she was treated like family.

Marilyn was an accomplished seamstress. Anything she did was always completed perfectly.  She had many hobbies including baking and cake decorating, plastic canvas embroidery and tole painting. She made many gifts for everyone. She loved books and art, especially Thomas Kincade.  During the summer, she loved gardening.  She travelled the world and always brought home mementos and sent postcards to everyone.

She loved The Lord and was a dedicated member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She faithfully served in many church callings. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist, and a leader of the compassionate service.

Marilyn is survived by her brothers, Duane (Edlin) and Leon (Bobbe), and their families. Though Marilyn never married, she was a loving aunt to 12 nieces and nephews, 28 grandnieces and grandnephews, and 11 great-grandnieces and nephews.  She was also blessed to have many close friends.

Though we were separated by many miles, it did not stop Marilyn from coming to our family occasions, graduations, and a wedding. I have fond memories of visits she made to Indiana, Milwaukee, and Michigan. The time together was always too short, but memorable. While thinking of what to say about Marilyn, I keep coming back to the fact she was such a good person and enjoyable to be around. She had good family and friends that loved her and that she loved. As my brother told me yesterday, Marilyn had a fun and full life, and anytime you can live in Hawaii is a gift. And she was.

Marilyn has been a dear sweet cousin for life. She has helped us take trips and always made special arrangements for us. Her kindness, thoughtfulness, and sweet personality, her cute little laugh is how I will always remember her. She touched my life in many ways, and she will be missed.
