Marilyn Gay Roundy returned to her heavenly home on November 30th, 2025. Marilyn was born on September 19th, 1930, to Merrill and Nellie Roundy. Marilyn was born at LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. She spent most of her life living in Provo and Springville, Utah, when she wasn’t traveling.
Marilyn was the oldest of five children. She loved her siblings and supported them in many ways throughout her life. She saved her brother from drowning in a river, all three of her brothers lived with her at times in their lives, she supported her youngest brother on his mission for the LDS church, and has been actively involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews.
Marilyn graduated from Provo High. She was on the honor roll all three years. Marilyn married Steve Buffo after she graduated high school. They had two daughters, Catherine Laura and Stephanie. Marilyn and Steve later divorced, and Marilyn married Lee Brumett. Marilyn later divorced, Lee purchased a home in Springville and lived there independently until 2022. She loved her independence and her Springville neighborhood family.
Marilyn had many interests and enjoyed learning. She loved to read, and her favorite book has always been the Wizard of Oz. She saw the movie when it first came out in 1939 and enjoyed seeing it again when it came on TV in later years. If someone didn’t know what to get Marilyn, something related to the Wizard of Oz was always a good option. Marilyn loved art and volunteered at the Springville Art Museum for 15 years.
Marilyn was a world traveler. She enjoyed National Parks and anywhere historic. She and Lee bought a motor home and took many trips around the United States and Canada. Marilyn traveled to Italy, Greece, and England. She was interested in people, places, and history. She joined UVU’s Elder Quest and took several classes each fall and winter. She missed taking classes during the COVID pandemic and was so happy to learn how to use an iPad when Elder Quest offered classes over Zoom. She always had something new she had learned to discuss with family and friends.
Marilyn was an active member of the LDS church. She especially enjoyed genealogy and temple work. She appreciated the support she received from her church family throughout her life. She maintained a positive outlook through her trials and believed that God loved her and would be there for her always.
Thank you to the team and residents at Summerfield Assisted Living for their kind and loving care. Thank you to the team at Health Watch Home Health and Hospice for your skill, dedication, and support as mom’s care needs increased. Marilyn was loved by many. She had so many wonderful friends. She will be missed.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Payson City Cemetery located at 400 North 800 East in Payson, Utah.

December 5, 2025 at 3:40 amMarilyn Roundy was one of my best friends here in Springville. I remember the day she moved into her home across the street. I immediately liked her and felt blessed to have this dear lady here, ready to join our neighborhood and ward family.
Throughout the years that have passed since then, I have enjoyed many sweet encounters with my dear friend. Although well into her “older years,” Marilyn was active and busy, always learning and always happy to share her insights. As a single sister, life was not always easy for her, but I don’t recall her ever complaining. Her home became her “little Eden” in that she loved plants and flowers and had many around her in her home. She cared for them with love, and they thrived. She thrived by staying active and busy, attending classes through BYU and taking wonderful trips with friends to various places in the world. She would always share with me that which she had seen and heard. She also loved talking about her family. Their successes brought her joy.
Marilyn was a true, loyal friend and a very positive “light” among those of us blessed to know her. Of course, she will be missed by her family and friends. Her great example of positive, happy living will continue to inspire me. I’m so grateful that we will be friends forever.
