Maria Jamesen May 12, 1942 - May 16, 2022

Maria Jamesen was born Flor de Maria Velasquez Carballo May 12, 1942, in Golfito, Costa Rica. The eldest of seven children to Francisco Velasquez and Lia Carballo. She told stories of a happy childhood alongside brothers and sisters she would love throughout this life.

At 16 she met and married the love of her life, Izzy Jamesen and together they set out adventuring for the next 63 years. Maria gave birth to two lucky children, Aurora ( Loli) and Frank. The family immigrated to the United States in 1962. Maria lovingly served her family as wife and mother, her daily examples of patience and love was how she lived her deep faith.

Being an intelligent woman Maria became proficient speaking, reading, and writing her second language, English.  She spent her days writing countless letters, sewing clothing, cooking & creating. Maria  enjoyed drawing, painting  & jewelry making.

Maria lived a productive contented life alongside her husband and family. They chose to do everything together. For four years they volunteered with the Peace Corps, living in, and helping the people of Malaysia. They also lived in Connecticut, Arizona the Dominican Republic as well as Peru. Traveling the world was and unparalleled adventure.

Maria is survived by her enormous posterity of 12 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Maria left us as she lived, (not wishing to trouble anyone else) with quiet grace and in peace. We look forward to loving, happy reunions in Gods purposeful time.

She was preceded by her father and mother as well as her son Frank.

A lovely, lovely caring woman who, along with Izzy, brightened the lives of both fathers and one mother of ours in their final years. Generous and so strong in her faith she strengthened ours! Sending our sad goodbye but also the peace of knowing she is Home.

Izzy, may you find strength and peace in the loving memories of your beautiful Maria and in the support of friends who love and care about you. We have missed you and Maria living in Canyon Breeze and listening to both of you tell us stories about your life together. We cherish the beautiful gift Maria made us this past Christmas. The video tribute was priceless as was she to your life and your family. Our deepest sympathy and know we love you.
