Margo Anne Cotant Christensen, age 76, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2025, in Provo, Utah. Born on November 12, 1949, Margo was adopted at birth by Alice Jean Nixon and John Oliver Cotant Jr. Margo learned at a young age to be fiercely
independent and fend for herself. As the only sister to her two brothers, Margo tried to match her brothers step for step in all that they did.
For the past several years, Margo experienced various physical ailments that were taxing on her body, but never on her spirit or mind. We are grateful that Margo can now rest from these physical trials that were placed before her.
Margo was raised in Chubbuck, Idaho, where her father served as mayor for 36 years.
Margo graduated from Highland High School and attended and graduated from Brigham Young University. While at BYU, she made lifelong friends. Education was always important to Margo, and she found herself returning to school later in life to receive further training and then educating the children of Utah County as an elementary school teacher for over two decades.
Margo was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully and diligently in many callings.
On May 5, 1977, Margo married Alan Lloyd Christensen and they were sealed in the Salt Lake City temple. One year later to the day, May 5, 1978, Margo gave birth to her first child. She would faithfully raise five children. Margo was a dutiful and caring mother, and wonderful homemaker. There was never a dull moment as Margo and Alan moved all around the country, first for Alan’s medical school training and residency, and then for his subsequent assignments as a physician in the United States Air Force.
These adventures took them to Maryland, Illinois, Washington, Utah and Mississippi.
When a military assignment took Alan overseas to North Korea, Margo stayed in Utah with the children to keep family disruptions to a minimum.
Following a divorce, Margo and the children moved to Utah County, where she would stay for next thirty years. As a single mother Margo strived to fulfill all the needed roles in the household. She made sure homework was done, the house was cleaned, church meetings were attended, and she also sent several sons on church missions.
Margo was also a loving grandmother, and took every opportunity to have the grandchildren visit her (and do chores while there!). Margo loved sports, and had an excellent jump shot. She was an avid BYU fan and thoroughly enjoy watching BYU football and basketball games. Margo loved pets, especially her most recent dog Bubba Bean, who preceded her in death by several years.
She took a keen interest in people, and for over a decade she ran a blog and concurrent newspaper article where she interviewed the common man on the street and had them share their life story. Margo believed that everybody had an important story to share.
Margo is survived by many friends and family, including her former husband Alan (Beth) Christensen, and her five children; Gavin (Jamie) Christensen, Paige (Jon) Drumm, John (Jeremy) Christensen, Tanner (Jasmine) Christensen and Courtney (Paul) Reeves. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren; Braden Christensen, Abby (Ashton) Meeks, Ellie Christensen, Lucy Christensen, Ivy Drumm, Eliza Drumm, Eve Drumm, Jett Christensen, Rio Christensen, Brett Durand, Reese Durand, and Graham Reeves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Alice Cotant.
As Margo requested, the family is holding a private celebration of life ceremony.
May Margo’s memory bring comfort and joy to those who knew and loved her. We
cannot wait to see Mom again in the eternities!
