Margaret Joanne Johnson Saxton April 3, 1940 - December 29, 2024

Margaret Joanne “Joni” Johnson Saxton, 84, who most recently lived in Morgan, Utah, passed away peacefully in Payson, Utah on December 29th, 2024.

Joni was born in Modesto, California on April 3rd, 1940, to Everett Jolliff and Cozette Jones.

In her youth, Joni enjoyed working alongside her father on the family ranch, and was involved in 4H, marching band, and later attended Merritt nursing school.

She married Nathan Johnson and together they had five children. She later married James Saxton, and they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary this summer

She was an accomplished seamstress, sang in many choirs and Sweet Adelines groups, worked as a hospice nurse and was a professional clown. Her greatest talent though was her ability to love and serve others.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joni and Jim served in the Provo, Payson, and Ogden temples, also served as missionaries at the Provo Missionary Training Center. Equally dear to her heart was the time spent serving in nursery and girl’s camp.

Joni is survived by her husband James Saxton, Children; Jana Amundson (Bryan), Mike Johnson, Andy Johnson, and Katie Johnson. Stepdaughters; Sharleen Jacobs, and Sherry Saxton. Twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, Sister Judy Thomas (Mark), and former husband Nathan Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her son Wesley Johnson, grandson Alex Amundson, and stepdaughter Jaymzlinn Saxton.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 11th at the LDS Meetinghouse at 10 West Young Street in Morgan, Utah. The reception will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m.
