Lynnette Buys Funeral Service

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., our beloved “Gerdy” peacefully passed through the veil and back into the loving arms of our Savior Jesus Christ and other loving family members who had gone before and were patiently waiting for her reunion with them in heaven.

Lynnette Gabbitas Buys was a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and so many other things to so many people who were lucky enough to have had her in their life.  Born on April 11, 1942, in Spanish Fork, Utah, to Ralph and Faye A. Gabbitas, Lynnette found much pleasure in gardening, cooking, baking, sewing and crocheting.  Lynette loved being outdoors and spending time in her yard and gardens.

She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She married Douglas B. Tanner of Spanish Fork on October 3,1959.  They had 4 children together, 3 girls and a son, before Douglas passed away unexpectedly in an industrial accident.  She would later marry Keith Joe Buys of Payson, Utah, on February 3, 1974, and they had one daughter together.

Lynnette loved to spend time out in her yard and she and Keith won the Yard Of The Week for Payson City, three times.  She raised 5 daughters and 2 sons, as well as working various jobs along the way as a customer service representative at Walmart and as a fulfillment specialist at NuWays International. She spent many long hours in her basement sewing room working on different crafts and crocheting projects that she loved to give to her grandchildren and friends.

Lynnette had a spicy personality and was not afraid to let you know how she really felt.  Her quick wit and unforgettable giggle always accompanied her even right up until her last couple days with us here on earth.

She is survived by her children: Becky (Barry) Clark, Debbie Nielson, Doug (Christie) Tanner, Tammy (Richard) Cox, Jeff (Jami) Cottle; stepchildren: Nikki (Troy) Young, Troy Buys; and 28 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and “sisters”, Dennis (Marie) Gabbitas and Jay (Margie) Gabbitas.

Lynnette was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Faye Gabbitas; husbands, Doug Tanner and Keith Buys; sister, Kathy; brother, Buddy; daughter, Jackie; and stepdaughter, Cindy; stepson, Scott; son-in-law, Casey; and great-granddaughter, Lexy.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Page LDS Ward Chapel, 711 South 600 East, Payson, Utah.  There will be a visitation Sunday evening, August 18, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah.  There will be a second visitation on Monday morning at the church, from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral.  Interment will be at Spanish Fork City Cemetery, 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.
