Lynn G Hone, 95, of Payson, Utah, passed away July 29, 2025, in Orem, Utah. Lynn was born on January 19, 1930, the first son of Glendore Hone and Minnie Matilda Horrocks. He married Luella Foote on August 29, 1952. Luella and Lynn had three children, Richard Lynn, Kathy, and Mark Emerson.
While Lynn worked 30 years for Union Pacific Railroad, his passion was working on automobiles. He ran his own shop or worked in someone else’s for over 50 years. He could fix any car and was always helping someone out.
Over the years Lynn and family lived in California, Nevada, Colorado, and Utah, but Utah was always home. If Lynn was not working, he was in the mountains, hunting or fishing. It would be interesting to know how many annual deer hunts he went on, how many hours he spent with a fishing pole in his hand, and how many cars he fixed for free.
If the weather kept him inside; he enjoyed games, cards, and puzzles. He was a master at Chinese checkers and Phase 10. His favorites were strategy games, which he played quietly. But if you watched closely, you might catch the glimmer in his eye as he knew he had you beat.
Lynn is survived by his daughter Kathy and son Mark. Lynn’s and Luella’s posterity include 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Glayde Hone.
In his passing, Lynn joins his wife, Luella; son, Richard; parents, Glendore and Minnie Matilda; sisters, La Dean, Nelda, Ardella, Ila Rae; and brother, Theron.
A viewing will be held Saturday August 2 at 10:00 at Walker Funeral Home, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Utah. Following the viewing, a graveside service will be held at Vine Bluff Cemetery, 1200 North 400 East, Nephi, Utah.
