Lynn Elmer Anderson, 96, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on September 28, 2024.
Lynn was born March 31, 1928 to Rufus and Hazel (Stewart) Anderson in Benjamin, Utah. He graduated from Spanish Fork High School in 1946, after which he went on to attend Brigham Young University, graduating with a degree in Agronomy in 1955.
Lynn joined the Utah National Guard in Spanish Fork in 1948. The unit was activated in 1950, and in 1951 Lynn received orders to go to Korea as part of the “B” Battery 82nd Field Artillery, First Cavalry Division. Lynn was honorably discharged from service as a Master Sergeant in July of 1952.

After graduation from BYU, he went on to have a long career of 28 years with Del Monte, where he worked his way up through various levels of management. Lynn’s work with Del Monte took him to many places outside of Utah including New Jersey, Texas, Puerto Rico, and Idaho. After a short retirement from Del Monte in 1983, he went on to work in real estate, and then became the President of the Bonneville Food Corporation. After retiring, Lynn enjoyed his hobbies, which included working in his yard(s), fly-fishing in Yellowstone, camping, grilling on the BBQ in his backyard, and traveling with family and friends. Lynn was also fortunate to go on a Utah Honor Flight with Nucor to Washington D.C. with his daughter in 2017, where they made a lot of friends and a lot more memories.
Lynn met his sweetheart Janice Jarvis in Provo, but the real sparks started at the Spanish Fork Fiesta Days carnival in 1952, where they were (maybe not so coincidentally) left to spend time together when their friends went off with other people. Lynn and Janice were engaged 4 months later and were married in the Manti Temple on June 8, 1953. Lynn and Janice had one daughter, Jana Lyn. They celebrated 71 years of marriage this year.
Lynn is survived by his wife, Janice Anderson, his daughter, Jana Lyn Anderson, his granddaughter Ginnylynn Ambrenac, and her husband Josip, as well as grand kitties Ember, Cobalt, Patty and Penny.
Lynn is preceded in death by parents Rufus and Hazel Anderson, his brothers Stewart, Loren, and Bernell, and fur babies Cinder, Trixie, and Socks.
A viewing will be held at Walker Mortuary in Spanish Fork at 11:00 on Saturday, October 5, 2024. A graveside service with a short program and military rites will be held at the Spanish Fork Cemetery at 12:30.
Lynn’s family would like to thank the staff at Fairfield Village in Layton for the excellent care and friendship they provided to him during his time with them. They would also like to thank Diana with Intermountain Home Health; Angie with Inspiration Hospice; Melanie and Tania with AMG Medical Group.
Lynn’s advice to living to be 96, smile, work hard, and share your stories. But most importantly life is busy, so slow down once in awhile and take the time to sit on a bench and make a new friend!
