Lyle B. Timmons, age 90, husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at home in Spanish Fork, Utah, on October 8, 2020. He was born to Charles Lee Timmons and Garnet Lucile Lawrence Timmons, in Emporia, Kansas, on March 8, 1930; he had 11 siblings. He attended schools in Kansas, graduating from Andover High School in Butler County, Kansas, then attended Wichita State University, where he played basketball for each. Always proud of playing for his high school and college teams, he appreciated the opportunity to play a sport he loved and valued the friendships he made there.
He married his sweetheart, Vera Jeanne Aubuchon, on July 22, 1950, in Andover, Kansas. Together they have eight children. His career in the Aerospace Industry took them to locations spanning coast to coast. He was a builder of airplanes. When he moved to Seattle, his expertise was put to use on the flight line. After moving to Florida, he worked in the production of missiles, including the “Hound Dog System” (This system required his meticulous precision as he worked with the explosives contained in the missiles; and then those carefully engineered missiles could be safely attached to the underside of military airplanes. He also worked in refurbishing missile silos, after those transcontinental missiles were test launched.
Lyle was a very talented and life-long athlete; he was the ultimate player and was an avid sports enthusiast. After his college playing days, and wherever he resided, he always found a team to play on, including playing softball for his employer, Boeing. He coached Jr. Babe Ruth and Little League youth baseball. He found enjoyment as an umpire and referee for community ballgames. Always active and never one to sit around, even in his later years, he participated in sports, including the Huntsman Senior Games, earning many gold, silver and bronze medals.

He is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served as a Bishop in the Santa Maria, California area. He faithfully served in many other capacities. He and Jeanne served a couples mission to Independence, Missouri.
Lyle is survived by his sweetheart, Jeanne; his children: Christine Woolcott, Spanish Fork, Utah; Daryl (Jane) Timmons, Goshen, Utah; Doyle (Mary) Timmons, Paso Robles, California; Peggy (Myron) Carson, Phoenix, Arizona; Brian (Nancy) Timmons) Fullerton, California; Eric (Beverly) Timmons, Lompoc, California; Bret (Sherri) Timmons, American Falls, Idaho; Dennis (Nellie) Timmons) Adelanto, California. January 11, 2021 at 10:45 pmHe made such an impact on me as a young man. He treated me like one of his sons. I found the true church and became a member while a teenager due to his family’s encouragement and his example. While I have not been in contact for many years I seldom shoot a basketball or hit a softball that memories of him do not come back. The old Opal Court home was a gathering place for so many of us. To us, he was just TL (tender loving) I know that all of his lineages can be proud of his life. I sit in the temple and often wonder what might have been and wish I could be back with all of them in Santa Maria at the old Stake Center and live it all over again. I truly loved him and all of his family and I owe them so much with no way to ever pay them back.
