Lucille Lea Bennett Isaman, third daughter and child of Leonard George (Dutch) and Mary Ellen McLeod Bennett, was born in Vermillion,
Kansas, July 9, 1929.
She peacefully passed away in Salem, UT April 29, 2023. She was raised on a farm near Vermillion, KS. She graduated 8th grade at Star Country School and graduated from Vermillion High School in 1947. She attended secretarial business college in Kansas City, MO and worked for a short period of time in Topeka, KS. On February 13, 1949, she married Roy Von Isaman of Vliets, KS, at the Methodist Church in Vermillion. They farmed until 1955, and then moved to Moab, UT in 1956. She retired from the Moab Post Office as Supervisor of Postal Operations (Assistant Postmaster) in 1989. In 1994, Roy and Lucille moved to Grand Junction, CO.
Preceding Lucille in death were her husband Roy (2003), her parents (retired in Monticello, UT; buried in Moab, UT), grandson Rydel Isaman (Spanish Fork, UT) and sisters Marion Fisher (North Platte, NE), Betty Becker (Bellingham, WA) and Joan McMahon (Paola, KS); brothers Tom (Pete) Bennett (New Mexico), Richard (Dick) Bennett (LaVeta surviving) (Paola, KS) and Jerry Bennett (Saundra surviving) (Blanding, UT). Summers would find Roy and Lucille in their 5th wheel trailer fishing the reservoirs of Colorado and Utah-many times with granddaughters in tow.
The Islander Resort in Lake Havasu City, AZ became their winter retreat for many years. Lucille continued her winters there after Roy passed.
Lucille was a Worthy Grand Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was honored with a special ceremony, and was presented with a 75 year membership pin and certificate by Colorado and Utah Eastern Star leadership (2023). She was a 28 year member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (2023), president of the Utah Postal Supervisors Union, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was an avid bridge card player, and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and, square dancing with her husband. She was a fantastic cook, and was still making meals for her family until last year. She introduced to Moab the cemetery avenue of flags-a tradition she brought with her from Kansas. She gladly provided vehicle shuttles for river trips and mountain biking outings.
