Lucas Bradford Harris passed away on Nov 20, 2022, in Salt Lake City, Utah at age 37, and will be tremendously missed by all who loved him. Lucas was born in Dallas, TX on December 12, 1984, the second son of Sarah and Todd Harris. When Lucas was one, he moved with his family to Las Vegas, NV, where he lived until he was 12 years old. He then moved to Spanish Fork, UT with his family where he graduated from Spanish Fork High School.
The outdoors brought Lucas much joy throughout his whole life. As a child, he was fond of scouting and all the activities that came with it, especially camping. He camped and hiked often with his sisters Gretta and Charlotte. Lucas loved playing sports from an early age. He excelled at soccer, played football for several years and tried his hand at baseball and basketball.
He got a kick out of street hockey in his younger years and skateboarding as he got older. He spent a great deal of time with his friends, building ramps and practicing skateboarding tricks. Lucas was instrumental in raising funds for the skate park in Spanish Fork and worked at the family-owned skateboard business called Decked Out.
Music was something Lucas enjoyed; he had a diverse taste in music and liked listening to a variety of genres. He played the drums in his youth, and it was always fun to listen to him play. He had perfect pitch and starred in a kindergarten play as Jack in the Beanstalk where he sang a solo. That ended his singing career, as he was too shy to ever sing much after that.
Lucas also had a fond affection for snowboarding and went whenever he could. In fact, he moved to Park City with his sister Gretta so he could snowboard often. He worked for Park City Mountain Resort where he met the woman who would become his wife, Laura Sepulveda, and attorney from Argentina. They married on April 28, 2008, holding a beautiful, intimate, ceremony at Bridal Veil Falls near Provo, UT, a place where he loved to spend time with family and friends. They later divorced but remained close friends.
Lucas was a brilliant man, and he could work well under pressure to accomplish hard things. He became fluent in Spanish when he married his wife from Argentina, who, at the time, didn’t speak English and she taught him her chess skills as well. He discovered a love of reading and read many self-help books. These books gave him renewed hope and a desire to start a family. He learned to set goals, and he knew he could do anything.
He loved people and animals, and he was a gentle soul. Lucas was well known for being kind, loving, and helpful; and was always trying to uplift those around him. Even on the day he passed, he was taking food to a friend in need. Of friends, he had many in every period of his life. If he had a shirt to give, he’d give it. If he had a buck to offer, he’d offer it.
Lucas was always a hard worker, admired by his coworkers and boss. He was never caught up in materialistic things but was more concerned with people being treated kindly. If he thought a person was not kind, he would call them out on it. We are devastated by his passing and miss him and his beautiful smile and laugh so much and we can’t wait to see him again
Lucas is survived by his parents, Todd Harris and Sarah Garland Lusk (Ken) of Spanish Fork; his brother, Westley Harris (Heidi) of Spanish Fork; his sisters Charlotte Harris Techera (Cesar) of Salt Lake City, Gretta Harris (Jim) of Park City, Brigette Harris Bonner (Brett) of Cedar City and Jentri Harris Steimle (Alexander) of Provo Utah; 11 nieces and nephews; and his ex-wife Laura Sepulveda of Billings, Montana.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, from 11:45 to 12:45 in the relief society room at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 3477 East River Bottom Road in Spanish Fork, Utah.
