Our cherished mother and grandmother LuAnne Tracy Oldham passed away peacefully in her home on March 4, 2025. LuAnne was born in Cortez, CO on February 17, 1951 to Charley Harvey Tracy and Inez Jackson Tracy. She was the fifth of six children and was affectionately referred to as one of the “little girls” along with her younger sister Kathy. LuAnne grew up on her parents’ pinto bean farm near Dove Creek, Colorado. She always described her childhood as being rich in love and laughter. She graduated from Dolores County High School in Dove Creek.
After high school LuAnne attended Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. As a Freshman she lived with her mother Inez who was also attending Adams State in order to renew her teaching license. After two years at Adams State LuAnne attended Brigham Young University in Provo Utah where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education.
While attending BYU, LuAnne met her forever sweetheart Steven Carl Oldham. They were married on August 24, 1974 in the Manti Temple. They had two daughters and five sons whom they mostly raised first in Santaquin, UT and then Covered Bridge Canyon. She often described her beloved canyon as heaven on earth, and she certainly made it feel that way to her children. She was a dedicated wife and mother, and she filled our home with love in all she did. She welcomed all children who came into her home and was affectionately known as “Aunt Lu” to everyone whether related or not. She in turn called them all “treasure.” She and Steve and their two youngest sons moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ in 2003 where she fell in love with the warm winters and made dear friends. Steve and LuAnne had 15 more wonderful years together there. After his death she moved back to Spanish Fork, UT where she spent the past six years surrounded by her family.
She was a wonderful story teller, and she had a talent for passing down stories of her parents and other loved ones to her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew her knew LuAnne loved to collect pretty things, especially teapots and teacups. She was always saying she wasn’t going to collect any more, but then she’d find one she couldn’t pass up. She also loved reading and was an avid journal writer. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother, and she went out of her way to show each one of her 27 grandchildren how much she loved and valued them.
LuAnne was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she had a strong testimony of the gospel. She loved the temple and felt honored to be a temple worker after moving back to Utah. She served in many church callings throughout her life. She worked with the young women often as well as serving as Primary President, Relief Society President, and as an early morning Seminary teacher for 10 years. She loved the scriptures and spent hours studying them in preparation for teaching Seminary. She had a special love for the youth of the church. She lived a life full of service and was always looking for ways to help others.
LuAnne is survived by her seven children: Kathryn (Keni) Reid, Benjamin (Angela) Oldham, Joseph (Amy) Oldham, Michael (Natalie) Oldham, Lisa (Matthew) Francom, Jared (Lauren) Oldham, and Jason Oldham; her 27 grandchildren; and her siblings Carol Brewer, Patrick (Gail) Tracy, and Kathryn (Kenneth) Anderson, and two sisters-in-law Ginger Tracy and Diane Tracy. She was preceded in death by her husband Steve, parents Charley and Inez Tracy, three older brothers Guy, Alan, and Gary Tracy, brother-in-law Jack Brewer, and her father and mother-in-law Albert and Nelda Oldham.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11 a.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 1158 E 1240 S Spanish Fork, UT. A viewing will be held on Friday, March 14th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker Family Mortuary, 187 South Main St, Spanish Fork, and on Saturday at the church from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.

March 11, 2025 at 9:27 pmLuAnne was my roommate at BYU 73-74. I loved her laugh and her wild red hair. Steve was in our Family home evening group. Boy did we tease him!! There was the time we “short sheeted” our “family brothers” apartment and sewed their sleeves closed. Or the time LuAnne and I filled two garbage cans with water and waited for them, hiding on the roof so we could splash them when they came for family prayer. Now these pranks were always reciprocated by the guys. For instance, they snuck into our house while we were at school and rearranged all the furniture. I mean the beds were in the living room and kitchen while the sofa and dining tables were in the bedrooms! We cooked together as a family group Sunday meals. We all grew very close. I think it was because of LuAnne. I always knew she and Steve would be together and I teased her about it. I could see how perfect they were. I also knew she would be a great mother. She was the best in every way. I had an opportunity to go to Dove creek with her one weekend. She loved her family. I gave her a teacup for a wedding present. She brought her teacups to BYU and we had “proper” herbal tea parties. LuAnne you are the BEST and you will be missed, but the light of your legacy will live on forever.
