Louisa “Timber” Vigil Valdez August 25, 1933 - March 1, 2026

Louisa “Timber” Vigil Valdez, a beloved mother, grandmother on many levels, sister, aunt, and friend passed peacefully on March 1, 2026, at the age of 92 in Spanish Fork, Utah. Born on August 25, 1933, in San Luis, Colorado, Timber was raised in Carbon County, Utah, and lived a life full of love, faith, and generosity.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Crusita Mondragón Vigil and José Eduardo Vigil; her loving husband of 58 years, José E. Valdez; her son Tony; and her siblings Sally, Ray, and Stella.

She is survived by her sons Rick (JoAnn), Cecil, Lewis (Sylvia), Terry, and Michael “Gregg” (Nick); her many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom carry forward the warmth and love she instilled in every home she entered.

Together, Timber and José shared 58 years of love, laughter, and countless memories, nurturing a family that became their greatest joy.

Timber’s heart knew no bounds. Her door was always open — for family, friends, and even strangers in need. Holidays at her home overflowed with warmth, laughter, and love, often centered around her legendary homemade tortillas and beans.

She had a playful streak, too — family fondly remembers the “great pizza incident,” when a simple drive to Disneyland made a pizza fly out the window which turned into laughter echoing through the house for years to come.

She had a sharp mind and a love for life: hours spent on solitaire, spontaneous trips to Wendover with just $20 in her pocket, or cheering passionately for the Colorado Rockies were all part of her joy. She battled cancer twice and faced many health challenges with strength and grace, never losing her smile, her humor, or her love for life.

As a devoted Catholic, Timber prayed her rosary daily and shared her faith through service as a Cub Scout den mother and as a proud member of her church community. She was honored as Woman of the Year in the Catholic Church, reflecting the countless lives she touched with kindness, service, and unwavering faith.

By her side from the day they met until her final moments was her loyal companion, Spydr. She lived by her own words: “Love is the easiest word to say but the hardest thing to do.” In all her 92 years, Timber showed that love was not just a word, but a life fully lived. She leaves a legacy stitched in prayer, laughter, and a home that will forever feel like love itself.

Timber’s life reminds us that true greatness is measured not in wealth or fame, but in the love we give, the lives we touch, and the faith we carry forward. She has returned to the Lord, leaving behind a family, a community, and a world infinitely better for having known her.

Her legacy lives on — in every smile she inspired, every hand she held, and every heart she filled with love. She will be forever missed, forever cherished, and forever remembered.
