Lorraine Openshaw Loveless was born in Spring Lake, Utah, on September 29, 1924, to Sara and Henry Openshaw. During her early years, she lived in California, but returned to Spring Lake, after the passing of her father. She attended Spring Lake Elementary, Payson Jr. High and graduated from Payson High School. Lorraine was a lifelong resident of Payson, Utah.
She died peacefully on May 30, 2020, at the age of 95, from natural causes. What a joyful reunion it must have been for Lorraine to reunite with her husband, Blaine, who passed away on November 24, 1978.
Lorraine married Blaine, the love of her life, on July 20, 1946.
Together, they raised three children. They lived a happy life enjoying family vacations and time on the farm. She was an animal lover, known to take in any animal that needed care. Lorraine enjoyed eating good food. She loved her family and never missed her grandkids’ events, whether it be a ballgame, a 4-H show, or a rodeo. Her grandchildren are left with wonderful memories, full of sleepovers, yard sales, band concerts in the Payson Park, and a love of animals. Her treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren have been the pride and joy of her life.
Lorraine is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was endowed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1965. She served in many church callings, including Primary secretary. She had an amazing memory and a talent for telling stories that made you feel like you were there in the moment. She shared her life stories with her family, and those stories will be forever cherished.
She is survived by her children: Jeff (Tamara) Loveless, Julie (Michael) Woolsey; eight grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Blaine; and her son, Larry Loveless.
Her family expresses heartfelt appreciation to all who so lovingly and compassionately cared for their mother and grandmother in her final years of a long, well-lived life.
Family and friends can meet at the graveside service for her, on Monday, June 15, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Payson City Cemetery, 400 North 800 East, Payson, Utah.
