“Best momma in the whole wide world”
Lois Sprague Hannig age 92, passed away surrounded by her children on December 14, 2021 in Payson Utah of complications of pneumonia. She was born on March 13, 1929 in Las Vegas, Nevada to Orson Marion Sprague and Bertha Elizabith (Sampson) Sprague.
Lois met and married her eternal companion Joseph Carlisle Hannig on June 1, 1961 in the Manti, Utah Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Together they had 6 children who she loved and did anything she could for them.
Lois had a very strong testimony of our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ and of the restored gospel. Needless to say she loved to teach and she served 3 full time missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She also served as an early morning seminary teacher which was her most favorite calling in the church.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Carlisle, one son Sam Hannig, brothers Paul Sprague, Lowell Sprague, Lovell Sprague, Ralph Sprague, and sisters Rowena Bretzing, Annabelle Bigleman, Irene Black, twin sister Louise Patterson, and Kathleen Sprague.
Lois is survived by her daughters Cheryl Brownfield and Louise Hannig, and her sons Hap E. Hannig, Durwin C. Hannig, and Joseph E. Hannig; 18 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service for Lois will be held on Tuesday January 4, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Genola Utah Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Visitation will be held at that location from 9:30-10:45 am prior to the services. Internment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada on January, 5th at 10:00 am.

January 3, 2022 at 6:24 pmI met Lois at East Bay Crest,the convenience store I managed in Provo. She was such a delight and just the most kind and compassionate soul. We all loved helping her pump her gas and what ever she needed. I had the chance to see her again recently,even though she didn’t remember me due to health issues she was still smiling. Rest in peace Lois. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
