Linda Ludlow Stone Funeral Service

St. George, Utah – Linda Ludlow Stone (79) peacefully passed away on June 16, 2023, surrounded by her family. Graceful, kind, and immensely talented, Linda was a source of strength and compassion to all she came in contact with.

Born in Spanish Fork, Utah on July 25, 1943, to Lynn Stewart Ludlow and Thelma Wood Ludlow and raised in Virginia, young Linda was always on the lookout for an adventure. She was often found wearing her cowgirl outfit, complete with a red cowboy hat, and riding her favorite horse Pinto or sledding down “Deadman’s Hill” at top speed. She was an avid reader, an excellent student, and a beloved older sister.

While attending Brigham Young University, the refined Virginia debutant met her scrappy, street-smart beau from Compton, California. Edgar L. Stone and Linda were married on May 27, 1966, in the Salt Lake City Temple. Ed and Linda settled in Portland, Oregon in 1968 where they raised their four daughters. She personified motherhood, teaching by example and nurturing qualities and talents for which we are forever grateful. She was our greatest advocate, a mother figure to our friends, and would often start an adventure with a Diet Coke, a sly smile, and “Let’s not tell Ed about this….”

It was often said, if you wanted something done and done well, call Linda Stone. Everything she touched became a masterpiece. She was a talented artist, designer, gardener, seamstress, event planner, and balanced all with grace and intelligence. Always a quiet strength behind the scenes, she loved encouraging others into the spotlight and allowing them to shine.

Steadfast and immovable in her testimony of her Savior, Linda was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served a mission with her husband in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.

Linda is survived by her husband Ed, her daughters Dana (Garrett), Lisa (Ryan), Melinda (John), Joanna (Ryan), 19 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, her sister Diane Babcock (Bruce), and brother Kevin Ludlow (Kitt).

Sister Stone , your memories would always leave with us. Death never allow us meet again in this life after mission , but I know we shall meet at the morning resurrections.

I named my first daughter after Sister Linda Stone, my experience with her in Nigeria Port Harcourt Mission was very exceptional, very loving and kind hearted woman. She is very accommodating and never segregate . I cherished months we stayed together in mission home back in Nigeria, not forgetting good food from her kitchen, especially banana bread. Sister Stone was very strong mission mother.

You would have been so proud of the Service and Tribute the girls worked together and executed for your passing. I attended the service virtually, yet I felt the love you generously shared with everyone who knew you. Linda, I always thought you had the most beautiful spirit and that was true until the last. Watching you and Mr. Ed navigate the last few years, I saw your bond grow even unto death. You Prepared your family well for the world we face and made the world of those around you a far better place.
