Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Linda Ida Lawrence Long, passed peacefully from this life May 16, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 10, 1951 to Sidney Arthur Lawrence and Ida Epsy Pace, in Heber Utah. She married Wesley Valene Long August 25, 1967, in Provo. Their marriage was solemnized November 16, 1985, in the Provo Temple. She has remained a devoted wife, even after his passing in 1993. We’re sure their reunion has been like no other, after being apart for a long 29 years. Mom has missed dad so much and talked often about the day she would finally be able to reunite with him.

She grew up in Provo, and attended Dixon Junior and Provo High. Until her last day she still had contact with several amazing friends she has grown up and attended school with. The family would like to give a special thanks to mom’s closest friends Jan and Carol for their friendship to mom through all these years.

Some of mom’s favorite hobbies and interests were bowling, quilting, sewing, baking/cooking, crocheting, collecting thimbles, gambling, gardening and writing in her diary. She loved Carmelo’s and Truffles. She loved the music of Rod Stewart, Dr. Hook and the Bee Gee’s. She also loved CCR and her most recent favorite song was Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Mom’s favorite movies were The Wizard of Oz, The Spiderwick Chronicles, Holes and Four Brothers. She could watch them for hours on replay. She often referred to Four Brothers as representing her kids. Lol

Mom helped dad run his business, Wesley Long Roofing, for many years. In the late 80’s, she went to Utah Valley Community College and became a licensed Dietary Manager. She worked for Quality Healthcare for most of her career. Most of her work was at East Lake Care Center in Provo, though she worked all over the state fixing facilities and she was an expert at bringing facilities into state compliance. Many companies were often in competition trying to hire her. She looked at cooking and baking as a craft and she loved creating and trying new recipes, especially with regard to therapeutic diets.

Mom’s greatest joy were her children and grandchildren. In fact, if you asked mom, she would tell you that her greatest accomplishment was her children. Mom loved going out to watch and support her children and grandchildren in playing sports, attending plays and other events and achievements. She has watched her son’s work together to build their businesses of Dr. Jeep and Super Wrench. She fought her hardest and was able to be present at her daughter’s graduation May 4, 2022.

Mom loved being present when her grandchildren were born and she always spoiled them and her great grands. She has always said that these children could never have too much love. She helped raise some of her grandchildren and took on roles she did not have to. Mom loved helping others, especially her family. Even if it was something she didn’t want to do, she would do whatever needed to be done.

She is survived by her children: Jim (Alyssa) of Payson, Russell (Wendy) of Provo, Christy and Michael, both of Payson. Her grandchildren:Curtis (Tasia) Carson, Sarah (Jorge) Mejia, Austin Long, Colton (Janette) Long, Jordan Long, Zackary and Casey Winters, Skyler Swiger-Long, Graycee Long and Andy “Tiny” Long and her dog Ricky Bobby.Great grandchildren: Brilynn and Emma Robinson and Olivia and Xander Mejia.Mom was a bonus mom to many and considered Joseph Gonzales as her “brown son.”

She is also survived by her siblings: Sidney (Sandy) Lawrence, Christine Daywitt, Tim Carter and Karen Long as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Mom was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her sister Carol Anderson, brother Jim Carter, son-in-law Jeremy Winters, father-in-law Wesley M. Long, mother-in-law RaNee Long, brothers-in-law Gary Daywitt, Gary and Rick Long and sister-in-law Brenda Long.

A very special thank you to Brittany Porter for the special friendship you have had with mom and for keeping her hair and nails as beautiful as she is.

We would like to give our heartfelt gratitude to Cathy Barber for her friendship and the care she has given mom over the past three months.
