Linda Carol Skidmore was born September 18th, 1950, in Lansing, Ingham County, Michigan, to Clifford & Eva Cole. Her grandmother was a staunch pioneer member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the early part of the Twentieth Century, when in Michigan there was only one organized Ward in the state (in Detroit, not near her) and only a few scattered members across the rest of the state. Linda has herself been a lifelong member and never wavered in her determination to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. A gifted violinist, she played with the Lansing Symphony Orchestra while still in high school. She received an Associate Degree in Business from Lansing Community College (Magna cum laude), and her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Ecology at Michigan State University (graduating “with honor”) where she attended with her
future husband, Bruce Skidmore. Everything she did, her whole life long, she did “with honor”.
In 1971, prior to their graduation, Bruce and Linda were personally invited by Howard Hunt to both move to Washington D.C. (and marry earlier than planned), to participate in what appeared to be an exciting opportunity in politics. An opportunity that later became known as the Watergate Conspiracy. They had wisely declined.
She married Bruce on June 13th, 1972, in the Salt Lake Temple, and together they raised six children: Gwenn Elena Hales of Salem, Utah. Daniel Grant Skidmore of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Micah Ethan Skidmore of Sunnyvale, Texas. The twins: Aaron Kimball Skidmore of Spring, Texas, & Geniel Dawn Crossley of Santaquin, Utah. David Claude Clifford Skidmore of Houston, Texas. Though Linda dealt with illness throughout her life, her love was great enough to provide tenderness to them, and others. Without difficulty, all will easily remember both moments and days of her love. She served as well in many Church capacities, including Ward Organist & other music capacities, Stake Missionary, often teaching children, youth, and adults, and in compassionate service callings.
She has lived in Michigan, Indiana, and Texas, finally moving to Utah in 2002. While in Utah she has lived in Springville, Roosevelt, Provo, Spanish Fork, Salem, and in Salt Lake City, where in the 19th Ward she and Bruce served as Church Service Missionaries in connection with the Utah Salt Lake City Inner-City Mission (a Welfare Mission). Again in 2017 & 2018 they served a welfare mission together in the newly opened Deseret Industries in Springville. She has ever been concerned with the welfare of others.
Linda, aged 71, lately of Santaquin, Utah, passed the veil March 3, 2022, in Santaquin, Utah, just 3 months short of her 50th wedding anniversary.
She is survived by her husband, a sister, Dorothy Fredline of Laingsburg, Michigan, and a brother, Lloyd Cole of Venus, Texas; all her children, and 15 grandchildren. She is predeceased by half-siblings Clifford Cole Jr. (Don), Doris Leone Scott, and Kenneth Howard Scott.
Family and friends may attend a visitation Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Walker Funeral Home, 187 South Main Street, Spanish Fork, Utah from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held March 7, 2022, at the Salem West Stake Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; 695 South 300 West; Salem, Utah 84653-9319. There will be a visitation period from 9:00-9:45 a.m., concluding with a family prayer, the funeral service in the Chapel beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed directly by a graveside service for dedication of the grave at the Spanish Fork Cemetery (420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork). Following this, a luncheon will be provided at the Stake Center.
It is suggested that for those wishing to make a donation in lieu of flowers, they make such donation to the Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

March 25, 2022 at 5:17 amI was surprised and saddened to hear of Linda‘s death. My sympathies to all her family. I remember Linda so well. We grew up together. We were always in the same primary class and in young women together. She was an example to all those around her.
