Leland Everett Stout February 24, 1952 - April 11, 2022

Leland Everett Stout of Provo, Utah, age 70, passed away April 11, 2022 at the home of his friend, Dr. Ron Baird, from complications of severe spinal stenosis.

Leland Everett Stout was born February 24, 1952 at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, the eldest child of Richard Leland Stout and Ellen Isabell (Libby) Stout LeFevre. He lived in the same home in Provo his entire life. He graduated from Provo High School in 1970. Leland’s work life started at the age of 11 or 12. He began as a tire man for his father’s trucking business, Stout Corporation. He then graduated to truck driver and drove for a number of years. He then learned how to operate heavy equipment and became a crane operator for a construction company. Later in life he became the co-owner of a pawn shop in American Fork, UT.

Leland worked for years in his late 20’s saving money so that he could send himself on an LDS Mission. He served faithfully in the Indianapolis Indiana Mission and, because of his age and responsibility, was quickly called to be zone leader for a large area. His life’s mission has been to spread the Gospel and to serve his fellow man, and he sought out every opportunity to serve. He was tall and strong, and he used his strength to help others. Hundreds were blessed by his efforts.

Leland had many passions besides service. He looked forward every year to the Jeep Safari in Moab, UT, as a skilled four-wheeler. He was an avid Avengers enthusiast and comic collector. He had a massive gun collection and was an excellent marksman. He loved music of all kinds and always had music playing in his home, his big loud voice echoing from the walls. He often did impressions of artists like Jim Reeves and Hank Snow, and even did an impression of John Wayne singing Jim Reeves songs. He loved snowmobiling and handball, and he was funny…he could tell the best jokes. You always laughed when you were with Leland.

Leland is survived by his four sisters, who look to him as a patriarch, protector and friend: Mary (Stout) Kovarik (Jeff) of Saint Thomas, ND; JoLynn (Stout) Stevenson (Rodney) of Layton, UT; Valerie (Stout) Asvitt (Steve) of Troy, MI; and Carol (Stout) Eastman (Tim) of West Valley, UT. Leland never married, but he is considered “Father” to the children of the Green family, who greatly morn his loss: Heather Lynn (Green) Shelly; Amanda (Green) Rumpton; Nathan Mitchell Green; Megan (Green) Keller; and Amelia (Green) Gardner. His surviving honorary grandchildren include Michael, Ammon, Sariah and Hannah; Alexander; Collin and Caitlyn; Clark Everett, Liam and Genevieve. He is also survived by many loving aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly. Leland was preceded in death by his father and mother.

I knew Lee when he was younger, and we loved Lee whenever he came to visit us. He was lots of fun! He also served others in a quiet way. I remember knowing that he comforted and helped a bedridden man, lifting him for persoanl needs. Helping him until he died. This was Lee as I knew him. …a great example of a serving and friendly man.
