Leah Melva Wright Jackson (94 (almost 95)) passed away September 9, 2025, in Spanish Fork, Utah.
Leah was born on September 30, 1930, in Scofield, Utah to John C. and Agnes Mulligan Wright.
She spent her life being of service to everyone around her, raising five children in the mountains and dearly loving her sweetheart Clair.
Leah spent her early life in Scofield Utah. She attended grade school in Scofield and High School in Price. In her growing up years, she worked in Scofield.
Leah met the love of her life, Clair, while she was working at Soldier Summit and he was working with the sheep at Colton – just five miles away. She knew right then that this was the guy for her. They were married on September 2 nd , 1955, in Scofield. He was her sweetheart, dancing partner, and protector through thick and thin.
They celebrated 66 years of wedded bliss prior to Clair’s passing in 2021. Now they are reunited.
Leah’s greatest joy came from raising five children. It wasn’t an easy life for her when over four months of every year she was on the mountains with the kids to be with her sweetheart as he tended to the sheep. Mom cooked all the meals over a wood camp stove, with no indoor plumbing and basically lived the life of a gypsy as the camp wagons followed the sheep across the tops of the mountains. Mom was a bold and brave woman as she went to the mountains with her newborns when they were 1-3 weeks old. Yet through all this mom was a very happy person.
During the time not on the mountains, she worked for 20 years at the Utah State Hospital in Provo.
Leah was very active in life – serving diligently in many church callings in Relief Society and Primary. Mom loved painting pottery with her friends and enjoying life as a family in the mountains. Then as mom and dad retired, they spent significant time travelling to see all the kids and grandchildren. Mom’s greatest joy might have been her children, then as she aged, “Grandma Leah’s” greatest joy
changed to being around all her grandchildren. When they had a trip planned, you could see the sparkle in her eyes as she knew that in a few days she would be with those grandchildren! It was what kept her young at heart. As she fully expressed love to each child, spouse, and her posterity, she taught all of us how to truly love our spouses and everyone around us. Mom, your legacy lives on and you will always be remembered, loved and missed.
Her hobbies included her family, family parties, sewing, reading, crocheting, quilting, pottery, cooking, the outdoors, camping, riding horses and ATVs.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the loving caregivers at Legacy House in Spanish Fork and at iCare Hospice. We truly appreciate the tender loving care provided to our sweet mother over the last few years that enabled her to enjoy her life and age gracefully. We have come to know and love all these great individuals that dearly loved mom.
Leah is survived by her 5 children: Steve (Janean) Jackson, Chris (Jeri) Jackson, Karen (Blair) Fuller, Deniele (Wayne) Malnar, Denise (Mike) Strong, 19 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren.
Mom was casual in dress, please do the same as you come to visit with the family – Jeans and easygoing shirts would be perfect.
A viewing will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, from 9:45 until 10:45 a.m. with the funeral following at 11 o’clock a.m. at the Walker Funeral Home 187 South Main Street in Spanish Fork.
Interment will take place at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery

September 17, 2025 at 1:43 amLeah is such a cute and fun lady. I meet her when my mom was at Legacy House. She talked about her family and places she had lived. My mother died in April of 2025 and I made a visit to see your mom some months later just to check on her because I would think of her often. She knew how to brighten your day. It is difficult to lose your mom. I am just seeing her obituary today the 16th. I would have come to her viewing if I knew before yesterday. God be with your family at this tender time.

October 7, 2025 at 3:25 amSue Johnson, Leah and Clair were my favorite customers when I worked at Browns Cafe. I loved her mischievous smile, like she knew something that you didn’t. They were always happy to see me and I felt love from both of them. I wish I’d known about her time on the mountains, we could have had some fun conversations. Lucky you to have Clair and Leah for parents.
