Lavon Wynder Jensen, of Payson, Utah, passed away after a long struggle and complications from CoVid, on August 2, 2021. In her final days, she was blessed to be surrounded by her loving family.

Lavon was born in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, on May 5, 1942, to Sheldon and Verda Wynder. Lavon was the oldest daughter and was like a second mom to all her younger sisters. She grew up with her brother, Dale, and sisters: Janet, Nina, Aileen, and Vada.

On March 19, 1962, she married Darwin Ross Jensen in Hillspring, Alberta, Canada. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake City Utah Temple on September 16, 1963. They are the parents of six children: Ranae, DeVon, Ramona, Duane, Carl, and Jennifer; and grandparents to 26 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Lavon attended school in Hillspring where, many times, she would ride her horse to school and leave it tied up to the post out front; then she would ride it home after school. She was raised in a very small farming community in southern Alberta, where everyone was close and loving to one another. She was very close to her grandparents and all her aunts, uncles, and cousins. All her sisters were her best friends. When she got married and moved to Provo, Utah, so that Darwin could attend BYU, she became very homesick for the farm. She always longed to go home to Canada.

She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She spent years serving in the Relief Society as President; her favorite calling was teaching the Relief Society lessons on Sunday. She would spend hours reading books and studying for her lessons, because she wanted them to be something that would inspire and teach the sisters. That was very important to her.

But her highest and best calling, that she was blessed with, is that of being a mother and a grandmother. She was the very best mother and grandmother any child could ever have, and there was nothing that she wouldn’t do for her family. Her very happiest moments were being together with her family.

Later in her life, Lavon learned how to paint. She has painted numerous, beautiful landscape paintings that we will cherish and remember her by. Lavon also made many beautiful, crocheted baby blankets which she gave to each grandchild as they were born. In the evenings, she would always read for several hours before going to bed. She cherished a good book written by the apostles.

She is survived by her children: Dave and Ranae Bastean, DeVon and Jennifer Jensen, Blake and Ramona Baxter, Duane and Marjorie Jensen, Carl and Melanie Jensen, and Jon and Jennifer Holway. Also survived by her grandchildren: Andrea Bellows, Justin Close, Jessica Bastean, Derek Jensen, Kylie McMullin, Casey Winters, Leland Winters, Schaefin Winters, Justus Jensen, Jadyn Going, Jace Wilson, Savannah Wilson,Colby Wilson, Kevin Jensen, April Jensen, Sydnee Jensen, Gavin Baldwin, Jacquele Jensen, Mckenzie Jensen, Gavin Holway, Bruce Holway, Trent Holway, Gabriel Holway, Quentin Holway, Elena Holway; and great-granchildren: Vida Bellows, Reuben Bellows, Bryson Close, Conner Close, Cannon Jensen, Jovi Jensen, Jex Jensen, Hunter McMullin, Hazel McMullin, Joshua Winters, Kayzden Winters, Luke Winters, River Going, Jonah Jensen, Ares Jensen, Isabel Jensen, Layla Larsen, Thea Larsen, Remlee Baldwin, Paislee Baldwin, Emery Valencia, Roman Valencia. She is additionally survived by her sisters: Janet (Ed) Anderson, Nina (Trevor) Harmon, Aileen (Mont) Gibb), and Vada Beazer; and her sister-in-law, Joyce Wynder; She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Darwin; and her brother, Dale Wynder.
