Larry Francis Trimble January 29, 1941 - September 22, 2026

Larry Francis Trimble was born on January 29, 1941, in Whittier, California, to Rhuel and Dorothy Trimble being the first of four children. Prior to and during World War II, this small family took up residence in the Lakewood-Long Beach area of California. Rhuel was deployed in the Pacific theater with aircraft mechanic and maintenance duties while Dorothy worked for Douglas Aircraft as a “Rosie the Riveter”. After the war, Rhuel joined with former Flying Tigers working for what would be called Flying Tigers Freight Co.

The company moved operations to Burbank/Hollywood airport, and Larry’s family moved to Sun Valley, CA, to be close to the Flying Tigers hub.

Larry spent his elementary through high school years in his community, growing up with his two brothers and younger sister. Larry graduated from Polytechnic High School. Larry did not have an interest in sports but had a passion for cars and mechanics. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. During his time, he became a skilled airplane mechanic. After his four-year tour was up, he reenlisted in the US Navy. He also earned an Associate equivalent from LA Valley College in aircraft mechanics. Not marrying, Larry made the US military his family.

He served on the USS Kittyhawk during the Vietnam War and the USS Constellation during the Persian Gulf War. He also worked for Lear Jet in the Asian theater as a civilian for a short period. Later, he moved to Imperial Beach and served in other military capacities at Mira Mar Naval Base until retiring.

Larry wasn’t all military. He enjoyed spending as many holidays as possible with immediate family. About three years ago, his health began to fail, and he moved to Utah to be close to his youngest brother Richard.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents Rhuel and Dorothy Trimble.

Larry is survived by his siblings Gary Wayne (Connie) Trimble of Burbank, CA, Dorothy Suzanne Trimble of Leadhill, AR, and Richard Rhuel (Kimberly) Trimble of Spanish Fork, UT.

Sincere thanks to Legacy House of Spanish Fork and the Bennion Veterans Home in Payson, Utah, for their amazing, loving staff who provided Larry’s care during his final years, and to Bristol Hospice for their amazing care.

A graveside service will be held in Larry’s honor on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery located at 420 South 400 East, in Spanish Fork, Utah.
