Lannie Stewart Reese, age 80, of Spanish Fork, Utah, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026 in St. George, Utah, surrounded by his loving family.
Born August 16, 1945, to Stewart and Kathleen Reese.
Lannie spent 50 years as a skilled mechanic at Fakler Tire and Sid’s Alignment. He was a master “tinkerer” who never met an old car or machine he couldn’t find potential in, and his collection of “someday-useful” treasures was a testament to his resourceful spirit.
Lannie was the ultimate authority on fishing. He was famous for insisting there was only one way—the best way—to rig a pole. While he loved the quiet of the lake or pond, his greatest joy was the laughter and visits from his granddaughter’s who were truly the light of his life.
Lannie is survived by his children: Barbara (Douglas) Allred of St. George, Bobby Reese of Spanish Fork, David “Brandon” (Jennifer) Reese of Spanish Fork, daughter-in-law Laurie Reese, and sister Ilene Nelson. He was the proud grandpa to 7 granddaughters, 1 grandson, and 8 great-grandchildren. He now joins those who went before him: his beloved wife, Mary; son Jarrod “JR”; sister Rowaine Lowe, and his parents.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Aspen Ridge Hospice, Advanced Hospice, and Legacy Village of St. George for their loving and dedicated care. A special thank you to his “angels” on earth, nurses Rachel and Andrea.
A graveside celebration of Lannie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at the Spanish Fork City Cemetery located at 420 South 400 East, Spanish Fork, Utah.
In lieu of flowers, please visit your favorite fishing hole and catch a big one in Lannie’s memory.
