Kelly Kevin Kay
June 19, 1980 – May 4, 2021
Our gregarious and loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend passed away too soon on May 4, 2021 at the age of 40.
Kelly was born on June 19, 1980 in Payson, UT. The second of five boys, Kelly was an outstanding, caring, and protective brother. Kelly graduated from Payson High School in 1998, where he enjoyed being on student council, singing in TheĀ Trouveres, and becameĀ an Eagle Scout. He loved parties and enjoyed hosting friends in high school and throughout his life.
After high school, Kelly served an honorable mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon returning home, he attended UVU, where he graduated with a business degree. While there, he joined their Fire & Ice west coast swing dance competition team, where he excelled and helped the team win Nationals.
Kelly’s social skills propelled his career to be an outstanding manager in many capacities. He established relationships with colleagues that became life-long friends. His true joy as a manager was helping others succeed and excel.
Kelly was a tremendously loyal friend and brother. Others often sought him out for advice and guidance. There was never a dull moment with Kelly around, he kept the conversation going with his witty jokes and sarcastic comments, and you could hear his laugh a mile away.
Kelly met his sweetheart Melissa Pennock while working in real estate. On March 24, 2007 Kelly and Melissa were married and sealed in the Manti, UT temple; later on, Madi and Jaden were sealed to them as an eternal family. Kelly and Melissa welcomed Kaleb in 2010 and Kyson in 2012. Kelly beamed with pride when talking about his children, they meant everything to him and he boasted about them as often as possible. He was their biggest cheerleader in all aspects of life; he strove to attend every cheerleading competition, wrestling match, or scholastic event and went above and beyond to make sure his children excelled in all of their activities.
Kelly enjoyed boating, camping, reading, and cooking, but most of all he enjoyed being with his family. He was always planning a new adventure and wanted to make sure his kids experienced everything life had to offer. He made it a priority to treat his wife like a queen. Their deep love for one another was evident, and their playful banter was always present throughout trips, hikes, parties, game and movie nights, and family dinners.
Kelly will be immeasurably missed by all who knew him. Our hearts ache that he left us so early; we will miss his charismatic charm and smile every day.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Melissa Pennock Kay; his children: Daughter Madison (and Mits (Morales), and sons Jaden, Kaleb, and Kyson Kay; his granddaughter: Romi Joy (Morales); his parents: Kevin and Sabrina Kay; his four brothers: Kody, Kent, Kortney, Keaton Kay, and their families. He is predeceased by his grandparents.
The funeral service will be broadcast live. Please click on the following link to watch: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCC3wJ3OtKAskDPvk6xk06dw

From the first day I met you and your brothers, I fell in love with each and everyone of you as you all performed your song and dance routine. Your incredible smile, your unbelievable backflips, your flawless dance moves along with your sprinkle of silliness, always without a doubt put a smile on my face and made me laugh to no end! I was blessed to be part of your family and watch you grow up throughout the years! My heart aches for you and your family. You will be missed dearly!!!!!

May 25, 2021 at 3:16 pmI am so sorry to hear of Kellyās passing. He was such a fantastic manager. Even if I didnāt like it at times, he demanded greatness. Unlike other managers, he would work just as hard or even harder to meet goals and always led his team from within. He is one of the mentors when I am leading my own team. What an inspirational person. He always had a smile, a kind word, and his teamās back.
