Kent Clayson Livestream Broadcast

Kent W. Clayson returned to our Heavenly Father on September 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. After a long battle of heart & kidney disease. Kent was born September 7, 1959, to Leon “Bud” Hansen and Grace Joan (Wyler) Clayson. He had 5 sisters and 1 brother. He grew up in Lake Shore, Utah, where he learned to work hard on the farm.

Kent graduated from Spanish Fork, High School in 1978. During his youth, he worked for Shepherd’s Egg Farm and Rigtrup Poultry, both businesses located near his childhood home. He then worked for Matex gas distribution company for several years. Kent was a loyal employee. He was employed at Longview Fiber Company for 27 years, receiving several safety awards, and finally retired due to heart complications.

Kent was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where his greatest memories were spent with his wife going to the Temple. He loved his callings in the primary, teaching lots of children and learning from them as well.

Kent has 6 children, 3 from a previous marriage. He married the love of his life, MarLene (Fox) on

April 4, 1987. They were later sealed for time and all eternity on December 2, 1989, in the Provo, Utah temple.

Kent’s love of the outdoors was a large part of their family vacations; they would pack up all 6 children

and go camping nearly every weekend in the summer while they were young. He was also an avid hunter and taught his children his love of deer hunting. He took them every year to his favorite hunting spot, “First Water,” even if he didn’t have a deer tag. Kent instilled his love of sports in his children. He would spend hours playing catch with them and loved spending time at the ballpark cheering them on as they played; he was their biggest fan.

Kent adored MarLene and spent many vacations touring every inch of Utah. They spent many hours riding their side-by-side together. They went on a few cruises to celebrate their anniversaries.

Kent loved making memories and building lasting family traditions. He enjoyed playing and teaching everyone in the family his favorite card game, “Groups and Runs”. Kent has an infectious personality and always ma

de everyone feel welcome in his home. He has 15 grandchildren who absolutely adore their “Grandpa Clayson”.

He is survived by his loving wife MarLene Fox Clayson, and his six children:  William (Molly) Clayson, Gary Clayson, KyLee Averett, Jessica (Dave) Magarell, MaLinda (Greg) Dedrickson, Cynthia (Todd) Brinkerhoff. His fifteen grandchildren are: Grace, Brayden, Carter, Hannah, Alice, Shawna, RayLee, Ashlyn, Daniel, Elija, Morley, Joseph, Katherine, Edward, and Olivia. He is also survived by his four sisters: Linda (Paul) Rose, Leona Gardner, Sandra (Chris) Weight, Mary (Patrick) Peterson, and his sister-in-law, Dannette Clayson, and his mother-in-law, LaRene Braithwaite. He is preceded by his Father and Mother, brother Glen Clayson, sister Carol, and brother-in-law Floyd Gardner.

As a family, we are greatly appreciative of all the medical professionals who have cared for Kent. Especially Patty and Bianca with Maple Creek Hospice Care. We also express appreciation to the many families, friends, and neighbors who have checked in on Kent or offered a hand in service.
