Spanish Fork, Utah
Kenneth James Ray 75
Born January 29,1947 in Oceanside, California to Charles Vergil Franklin Ray and Grace Elizabeth Hanson Ray. He married his sweetheart on March 19, 1971 in Arcadia California and was sealed for time and all eternity in the St. George LDS temple. He passed away in Provo on October 26, 2022 from Leukemia, surrounded by his family and loved ones.
Ken was very dedicated to loving, serving, and honoring his Father in Heaven. He served a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Gulf States, and stayed in touch with many of those he brought the gospel to. He loved working with the scouts and spent many years working with the young men. One of the highlights of his life was supporting one of those young men on their mission to the Philippines.
Ken also held many other church callings such as Sunday School President and Elders Quorum President. He loved running trains as a Railroad Engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad, and never missed an opportunity to correct anyone that said he drove a train. He worked for Santa Fe for 25 years.
Ken was a loving, kind, and enthusiastic man who did so much good in his life. He would adopt any neighborhood child that needed a grandpa to love them. He would also go out of his way to love and care for his neighbors and friends. However, most of all he was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend.
The totality of his life was spent helping all those he was able to. He loved everyone and everyone that knew him loved him, and all will miss him a great deal. Though he is now in the arms of a loving Heavenly Father, we know we will see him and be with him someday.
He is survived by his sister Evelyn Goudie (Larry), his loving wife Susan Ray and their children Jack Lelend Ray, Marjorie Anne Retzlaff, Daniel Wade Ray (Lanna), Marcas Darawin Ray, Michael Shawn Ray, Miriam Grace Holderby (Nicholas), with 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Grace, his brothers Virgil, Stanley, Eugene, and sisters Gloria, Julia, Carolyn, Marilyn, Rebecca, also a great grandson Eden Retzlaff and his in-laws Darwin and Miriam Southwick.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday November 9th at the Wolf Hollow 2nd ward, located at 870 E Canyon Rd, Spanish Fork, UT 84660. Services will be held at 11:00 am, with a viewing from 9:45 am to 10:45 am. He will be buried at the Spanish Fork Cemetery.
