Our mother was not your ordinary mother. She was a Vietnam era veteran that loved Janis Joplin and drinking black coffee in the evening. She used cast iron pans, loved to play pinochle and was addicted to genealogy. She loved road trips with her grandkids, quilting and listening to classic rock.
She was a mom to everyone, a hippie, an amazing cook, and an avid reader. She raised us to be independent, have a good work ethic and to learn from our mistakes. She taught us the value of friendship, respect and kindness. She was selfless and strong. She worked 3 jobs and never missed a softball game, baseball game or dance recital. She was the voice of reason, and the life of the party.
Traveling was her passion, family was her life, and being a grandmother was her purpose. She always said that being a grandma was the whole point of life, it was the greatest reward. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything.
Our mother came from a family of veterans and proudly served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1977. She received Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and in February of 2023, received a Certificate of Honor from the American Legion. She was also the mother of a veteran. One of her proudest moments as a mom was when her youngest son enlisted in the Army in 2001, and later served in the 75th Ranger Battalion in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Our Mother passed away peacefully after a long battle with end stage kidney disease. She was preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Bona and Shirley Evaline Clark and her brothers Jon and Roger Fuller. She is survived by her siblings Brent Bona and Brenda (Paul) Liddiard; and her children Chris (Nichole) Mitchell, Casey (Jeremy) Hammond, and Caleb (Rachel) Mitchell; her grandchildren Jordan, Jenna, Mitchell, Gracie, Zelda and Archer.
A Celebration of Kaye’s Life will be held on Monday November 18th, 2024, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm, at the Amavi Events Venue 160 N. Main Street Spanish Fork, Utah.

October 23, 2024 at 9:52 pmI am so sorry for your loss. I lived with the Bona family during our senior year in HS. Brenda & Brent were the light of Kaye’s life during that time. She was like a mama bear when it came to them. The last time I talked to her she made sure to brag about each child & grandchild.
Talk about her often & keep all the memories alive.

November 1, 2024 at 10:20 pmKaye was a fierce and protective mama bear to an endless number of misfit kids in the 90’s who were lucky enough to get mixed up with one (or more likely all) of the Mitchell kids. Her house was a safe haven for everyone. Looking back it’s amazing what she put up with to be supportive to us and we all owe her a huge debt. She helped keep us dummies safe. Moms like her are few and far between and we can all take a lesson from that kind of patience, tolerance, and love. Kaye, you’ll be missed. Chris, Casey, and Caleb, my forealest condolences. Love you guys.
