Katilyn Whicker January 19, 1996 - November 20, 2021

Katilyn Whicker of Payson, UT, passed away on November 20th after a beautiful twenty-five years of life. Our Georgia Peach was born in Atlanta on Friday, January 19, 1996. Three weeks later, through miraculous circumstances, she joined the family of Glenn and Pamela Whicker and their 5 daughters.

She was sealed to her family a year later for time and all eternity in the Washington, DC Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

From the very beginning, Katie brought much joy and laughter to all those around her.  Her adventurous spirit manifested at a very early age and there were few activities in which she did not wish to participate (except for doing dishes).  At her St. George, Utah high school, Katie was honored by the football team as she proudly wore her “Dixie Blue” ears to show school spirit. She ran track and played on the school tennis team. Her face shone brightly when she was crowned Queen of her Senior Ball.

She began her post high school education by graduating from the Paul Mitchell School in cosmetology.  She later found her true passion by pursuing a veterinary technician education and in working closely with animals for several years at two different clinics.

Throughout her life Katie was a great advocate for all people with differences. She travelled around the United States and internationally, speaking out against bullying, promoting inclusivity for all and teaching parents how to deal with hearing impairment in their children. She was involved with the Children’s Craniofacial Association and inspired many with her courage, optimism and enthusiasm. In 2019, she won the Ambassador Award from the Utah Speech-Language Hearing Association.

Of her many roles, she most cherished being a dog mom and a wonderful aunt to her 19 nieces and nephews. Most recently, you could find her zipping about on her 250cc motorcycle on a good weather day, or hiking the Narrows of Zion National Park, or bouldering at her favorite climbing facility. Her dream was to own a fast, red Mustang convertible. Despite having endured over 80 surgeries in her life, this girl could not be kept from enjoying the very best of life – she even became a model for Gigi Pip hats!

She was predeceased by her beloved dogs Oreo and Zion, her Grandparents Boyce & Rada Stones, her Grandfather Ben R. Whicker, Uncles John Whicker & Paul Kelley, and her niece Lennie Kusilek.  She is survived by her lab Archie, father and mother Glenn and Pamela Whicker, sisters Camille Ford (Shane), Taralyn Hart (Andrew), JamiAnn Harward (James), Alison Kusilek (Perris), and Lyndsey Stokes (Tyler), 16 aunts and uncles, dozens of loving cousins, and Grandmother Rea C. Whicker, as well as her birth father and brother D. Jonathan and Nicholas Weaver of Georgia.

Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 952 W 1580 S Payson, Utah on Friday November 26, 2021.  The viewing will be from 12:00-1:30 pm MST.  The funeral service will begin at 2 pm and will be available for streaming at http://tinyurl.com/KTQTW96.  A private interment at the Payson Cemetery will follow on Saturday November 27, 2021 at 11 am, for family only.

Any donations to assist with funeral costs may be sent via Venmo @Camille-Ford-1, PayPal camilly1@gmail.com, or Zelle 936-827-7568.  Flowers can be sent to the Walker Funeral Home at 587 South 100 West Payson, UT 84651.

Katie – we will all love you for the eternities, and look forward to a glorious reunion with you!
