It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Kathy Yount-Davis, 53, in her home in Spanish Fork, Utah, on January 7, 2025. Born on July 19, 1971, in Berkeley, California, Kathy was the biological daughter of Jeannie Anderson-West and was adopted by Hal and Jeannette Yount. She spent her formative years in Price, Utah, where she developed a deep sense of family, shaped in part by the loss of her dear brother, Russell Yount.
As an adult, Kathy reconnected with her birth mother, Jeannie, and developed a profoundly meaningful bond with her and Jeannie’s husband, David West, whom she lovingly called “Daddio Dave.” These relationships brought immense joy and fulfillment to Kathy’s life. She eventually made Spanish Fork her home, dedicating herself to building connections and spreading love throughout her community.
Kathy’s life changed forever on February 4, 1992, when she welcomed her son, Zack Richey, into the world. Zack was diagnosed with autism at a young age, and Kathy rose to the challenge with unwavering dedication and love. Her life’s work became his growth and independence. She taught him to speak, to read, and to live a life full of possibilities, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience, and boundless commitment. Zack was, and always will be, her greatest pride and joy.
On September 19, 2004, Kathy married Brandon Davis, becoming a devoted stepmother to Britny. When Britny married and started a family, Kathy and Brandon joyfully embraced their roles as “Papa and Nana Kat.” Kathy adored their “grandbabies” and treasured the time spent with them. Kathy and Brandon shared nearly 15 beautiful years together until his passing on April 8, 2019. After experiencing such profound loss, Kathy found love and companionship again with her surviving partner, Monty Charlton. In their five years together, they created precious memories that will be cherished forever.
Kathy was a passionate learner and a dedicated professional. She earned multiple technical certifications, including a Dental Assisting Certificate, a Medical Assistant license, and a Certified Nursing Assistant Certificate. She worked at Creekside Dental and Utah Valley Urology Clinic, where her care and compassion touched many lives.
Kathy had a unique talent for bringing color and beauty into the world. Known for her bold and vibrant style, she was a master of makeup artistry, creating inspiring videos and sharing her expertise in beauty products and eyelash perfection. Her creativity and generosity were gifts to all who knew her.
Travel was one of Kathy’s greatest passions. She delighted in discovering new places, making friends, and savoring the rich experiences the world had to offer. With Monty by her side, she visited countless states and cities, creating memories filled with joy and adventure. She dreamed of visiting Italy and had even begun learning Italian before her journey was tragically cut short.
A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kathy served as a Primary teacher for many years. She formed lasting relationships with the children she taught and remained a cherished part of their lives as they grew into adulthood.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband, Brandon Davis; her brother, Russell Yount; and her adoptive mother, Jeannette Yount. She is survived by her son, Zack Richey; her partner, Monty Charlton; her adoptive father, Hal Yount; and her biological mother, Jeannie Anderson-West.
