Kathryn LuCille Abbott Argyle, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 8, at age 78, following a valiant fight with cancer.
LuCille was always a whirlwind of activity due to her seemingly endless amount of energy and charity. On a typical day, she could complete a sewing project, clean a house, mow a lawn, go to
work, serve in her church responsibilities, prepare a meal for her family, as well as for a neighbor, and volunteer at a hospital. No one could match her life’s pace.
LuCille was born May 30, 1941 to Medford Dee Abbott and Kathryn White in Payson, Utah, the second of six children. She spent her childhood years attending Payson schools, learning to work hard and developing many homemaking skills. She also found time to enjoy dancing and playing various sports. Graduating from Payson High and Seminary gave her long-lasting friendships. It wasn’t long after her encounter with Lake Shore native, Bert Argyle, that she knew she had met the man of her dreams. Marrying her eternal sweetheart in the Salt Lake Temple on April 10, 1959, they made their first home in Lake Shore. There, three children – Julie, Pam and Jess – joined Bert and LuCille in their loving home. The family then moved to nearby Benjamin, adding five more children – Guy, Keith, Wade, Layne, and Ann – to the family. Bert and LuCille recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
LuCille’s family was her most precious treasure and highest priority. She spent countless hours supporting her children in their education, sports, FFA, 4H, and church activities. She loved family gatherings, especially campouts at their summer home. LuCille cherished holiday family events, especially around her favorite holiday, Christmas. She loved the Christmas lights, decorations, food, music and gift giving, and always had delicious food and yummy treats for everyone. LuCille found any excuse to throw a party, to bring family and friends together to show her love for them.
After her children were all in school, LuCille went to work for Nature’s Sunshine Products, working as a purchasing agent. She loved her job and the many friendships made at NSP, retiring after 14 years. As if a full-time job wasn’t enough, she continued her service volunteering at Mountain View Hospital for an additional 25 wonderful years. LuCille exemplifies the definition of serving others.
LuCille was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and filled her life with service and compassion toward others. She selflessly served in many church callings, on both a ward and stake level.
LuCille also enjoyed being an ordinance worker at the Payson and Provo Temples. Following her retirement, she and Bert served two church missions, fulfilling a life-long dream.
LuCille was very talented and loved to sew, knit, crochet, quilt, bake, and decorate beautiful wedding cakes. She enjoyed gardening and always kept a beautiful yard. Traveling was another passion and LuCille loved spending her winters in Arizona with Bert and finishing her bucket list of seeing all 50 states. As horse enthusiasts, Bert and LuCille enjoyed another passion – training and racing their award winning horses, which gave them even more opportunities to join with family and friends. Always anxious for more experiences and time with family, LuCille considered live theater a treat and never turned down an opportunity to play cards.
A friend to all, LuCille was quick to speak words of kindness and acceptance, offer hope and encouragement, and would do all that she could to lighten the load of another. Her life was full, busy and fast paced and she would have it no other way.
We wish to express our sincere love and appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, and medical personnel, ward members, and friends, for the service rendered to LuCille both during her battle and throughout her life.
She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Bert, and eight adoring children: Julie (Mike) Hales, Pam (Jim) Sullivan, Jess (Deloris), Guy (Mindee), Keith (Chris), Wade (Rachelle), Layne (Delora), and Ann (Jamon) Jarvis. She leaves 58 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, with three more on the way. LuCille was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and two sisters.
A private family graveside service will be held at the Benjamin Cemetery.

April 10, 2020 at 1:07 amDear Argyle Family, We were so sorry to hear of LuCille’s passing. My mom, Veda Loveless, went to the temple with LuCille on her wedding day. I was one of her bridesmaids and love the memories of that day. I was always amazed at her incredible energy. Her testimony of the Lord was so beautiful all her life. We are blessed to have the restored truths of the Gospel and to have the comfort of knowing that death is a new beginning. We send our love and sincerest sympathies to all of you.

I loved this lady!! She was my young women teacher. And I still use the quote she gave me. “Two people can accomplished any thing. a long as one of them is God”. She bake me a birthday with a lot of frosting because she knew I loved frosting. Hugs and prayers. Cousin. Love you all! Darla Jensen Bakker

April 11, 2020 at 11:39 pmMy Dear Friend LuCille,
All I can see is you running fast (because you didn’t know slow) through heaven, with a huge smile on your face. I know you’re thinking who can I help, what can I do, when can I make or do something for someone.
It was such a gift to me that we were able to work with each other and I learned so many great qualities from you.
Many, many times, when I needed to make a decision, I would think: What would LuCille do? I knew if I followed your example I would make the right choice.
Thank you for being my friend, my teacher, my Christlike example.
I know you’ll be watching over your family and those you hold most dear.
I sincerely pray our paths will meet in heaven; that will be a very good day.
I love you dear friend, God speed,
Lil Shepherd

April 10, 2020 at 4:21 pmMany tears of sorrow are shed today on this side, but there are tears of joy on the other. Bert, you shared her love for over 61 years and she remains with you now as she remains in the hearts of all who knew her. I am especially saddened that we cannot attend her final arrangements after having heard her give so many beautiful tributes as the last requests of others. But your hearts will heal with the knowledge you will all be in her attendance again and everlasting. So let your tears be rain upon the fruits of LuCille’s life that gives her water for her journey now. Peace be with you all.

April 11, 2020 at 3:29 amDear Bert and kids, I think you know how much we love your mom and Dad and all of you kids! Your mom was so full of life and she brought so much joy and life to all who was around her. She made me tired just seeing all that she did. I remember thinking when I heard she had cancer that there was no question where she was going from this life, she did and accomplished more in her life than the rest of us even dream of doing. I’m so sorry that we can’t be there but you know our hearts and prayers are with you! We loved her and you Bert, and all you kids. May Heavenly Father put his arms around you with comfort and peace. Love you, DeNene and Robert Jensen

April 13, 2020 at 3:58 amI was shocked and saddened when I saw tonight of LuCills passing ! I Love her so much! We worked together at the Payson Temple when it had just opened. She was my trainer and we were totally ‘kindred spirits’- we would both say that! My husband had just passed- and she was such a light for me! I know she made everyone feel special and loved… but we had a Sweet friendship and I felt So Loved by her!
I am sorry for her husband and family to have her gone- I know how difficult that is, but I also know I feel my husband close by at times- I know you will feel her happy loving presence as well!
