She was raised on the family farm in Price, UT. Her childhood days were spent learning the arts of gardening, baking, canning, sewing and music. She loved taking care of the baby animals on the farm and playing outdoors. She loved the happy days spent with family in Hiawatha and Clear Creek, UT. She learned the value and satisfaction of hard work and passed this on to her children and grandchildren. Working with Kathryn did not feel like work. Her loving and gentle ways made any task easy.

Her home was filled with culture and etiquette. She made sure her children had the best teachers for piano, voice and other instruments that they played. Music was always playing in the background in her home. Everything from symphonies, operas, musicals, hymns and the current music of the time. Most of the free time with the family was spent singing while Kathryn played the piano and Kenneth played the guitar. Kathryn was consistent in managing her home and keeping order in all things. She cared for her parents in the home and spent many hours caring for Ken’s parents. Kathryn was an expert seamstress and made clothing and bedding for her family.
