It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our beloved wife and mother Kathryn McGee Albee, aged 76, on August 23, 2025, at her home in Payson, Utah. Kathy valiantly fought cancer for the past 20 years and was amazingly positive and happy despite her battle.
Kathy was born December 26, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to the late Kenneth and Barbara McGee. She grew up in West Covina, California, and loved going to the beach with her friends in her teenage years. She graduated from Covina High School in 1967. Kathy was known for her bright red hair, spunky personality, and freckles. Later in her life her family and friends knew her for her bright orange VW Bug that personified her fun personality.
A woman of deep faith, Kathy served two missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. First in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil in 1972 and then in Lisbon, Portugal in 1985. After returning home from her second mission, she and Earl met and were later married on September 12, 1987, in the Jordan River Temple. They have remained devoted, active members of their faith throughout their lives.
Kathy will be cherished by family and friends for her unwavering dedication to family history. Beyond her devoted role as a homemaker, her life’s passion was meticulously researching and preserving the McGee’s and Albee’s ancestral legacy. Kathy worked tirelessly to ensure that countless names were prepared for temple ordinances, lovingly inviting family and friends to join her in completing the sacred temple work on behalf of ancestors. Kathy also served faithfully as a temple worker for many years, finding profound fulfillment in this calling. She and Earl enjoyed traveling to visit many temples throughout the United States. We find comfort in knowing that a joyous reunion surely took place in Heaven with the many souls blessed through her efforts.
Her commitment to genealogy was matched by her talent for scrapbooking and preserving cherished family memories. Kathy’s warmth, creativity, and generosity touched all who knew her. She delighted in the art of crochet and cross-stitch, and her thoughtful birthday cards and heartfelt messages brought light to her family and friends. Kathy’s steadfast love and service to her family will be deeply missed, but her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Earl Edwin Albee; their children, Melissa Albee, Mark (Andrea) Albee, Jayson (Shirlene) Albee, Alisa (Mark) Slaugh, Lora (James) Brown, Amanda (Joshua) Hales, Serena (MacRorie) Hewitt, and Jeffrey (Mary) Albee; 20 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Kathy’s legacy is one of love, kindness, and service.
The family will celebrate her life at a private graveside service. The family wishes to thank all who have offered their love and support during this difficult time.
