Kathleen Marie Lynch June 27, 1968 - May 19, 2023

Kathleen Marie Lynch passed away on May 19, 2023 after a hard-fought battle with Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma with CNS, surrounded by her sons and husband.

Kathy was born on Thursday, June 27, 1968 to Marlyn Sue Hornbeck and Paul William Mills II in Concord, California. She attended Antioch High School, graduating in 1986, before attending cosmetology school and earning her degree. With focus on hair and makeup, Kathy developed a deep passion for film and television, most reflected in the projects she worked on and the people she influenced. Everyone Kathy crossed paths with professionally speaks highly of her character and her dedicated work ethic.

Given her gift for accomplishment, Kathy worked on several notable films and shows in both her local communities and on the national stage. Her professional career began in 2013 with a selection of small budget films in California before she began working at Studio C and BYUtv, most notably on The Showoffs. In between teaching specialty skills, guest speaking, and starting her own business, Kathy catapulted her career to glamorous heights. She succeeded a lifelong aspiration when she joined The Local 706 Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Guild of Los Angeles while working on household name shows like Yellowstone, For All Mankind, Grey’s Anatomy, The Chosen and America’s Got Talent. She took great pride in her career, the people she had the opportunity to work with and impress upon, and the quality work she produced. She was never far away from her next big thing but her greatest accomplishment was how easy she made it look.

In 1987, she met Wayne Allen Lynch and they married at the Oakland California Temple in the same year. They lived in California for the first years of their marriage, giving birth to four sons, before eventually settling in Lindon, Utah where they could be surrounded by family and friends. Nothing was more important to Kathy than her family, best shown in the thousands of photographs she took, organized, and crafted into beautiful books and collages. Being a mother was an aspiration that Kathy fulfilled with honors. With how deeply she cared for other people, her sons were her pride and joy, raising them with her husband. They will miss her.

In between Hollywood films, family, teaching, and her constant consideration for others, Kathy somehow still made time to start her own business and participate in a large variety of hobbies. Always with several projects in the works, Kathy and her sister Debbie began and built their own wig rental business right at home. Ruby & Mane was Kathy’s next big adventure and passion project that she and Debbie created together, culminating in praise from the film industry for their quality and service. Kathy would spend hours hand-making each wig, mustache, and beard while building a website, a social media following, and name recognition. When she needed a break, she occupied herself with hobbies like gardening, interior design, and writing poetry. She was not an idle person and it enriched the lives of every person she met, even the people she only met once.

Kathy immediately warmed any room she walked into. She had the unique ability to make anyone feel seen, loved, and part of her circle. She was patient, forgiving, and inspirational. Being around Kathy was like walking through a ray of sunshine, colorful and wonderful, and she made others want to emulate her strong character. She loved all people, filling her home and workplaces with love and kindness. Her favorite color was green, something befitting Kathy best, because only a soul as lovely as hers could have such a lively color at the center of it.

Kathy is survived by her husband Wayne Allen Lynch, her sons Ryan Allen Lynch (Paige), Cody William Lynch (Courtney), Brett Shea Lynch (Marissa), and Damon Samuel Lynch; her sisters Debbie Coles (Brian) and Jennifer Mills; her brothers Christopher Mills and Kenneth Mills (Andrea); her father Paul Williams Mills II (Peggy), and a variety of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family requests that flowers and notes be sent to 563 E Center St. Lindon, UT 84042.

There will be a viewing at 9 a.m. on Friday May 26, 2023, followed by a short funeral service at 11a.m., at 731 E Center St. Lindon, UT 84042. The service will be followed with a Celebration of Life Luncheon for family and close friends at Kathy’s home at 3 p.m. Kathy will be laid to rest beside her mother in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery.
