Kathleen Elaine Dille Okelberry passed away on May 11, 2025 at the age of 85 surrounded by her children.
Kathy was born on January 4, 1940 in Weiser, Idaho. She was the middle child of John Wendell and Roma Eva Frank Dille.
She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints who loved serving those around her. She attended LDS Business College, where she earned her associates degree. Her college roommate set her up on a date where she met her husband, David Peter Okelberry. The couple married on February 8, 1969 and were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. She became an instant mother of three children who she loved as her own. They later added four more children to their family.
Kathy held many jobs over the years, ultimately retiring as a librarian for Granite School District.
She had a great love of books which she passed on to many of her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, eating tootsie rolls, and collecting beanie babies and thimbles.
Her family was her greatest joy and her face would light up with every visit. She would often comment on how blessed she was. She gave the best “back scratches” and would often be asked, “Grandma, will you scratch my back?”
Kathy was the most genuine person you would ever meet. She was kind and caring and loved by all who knew her.
Kathy is survived by her brother John Dille; children David (Edna), Alta (Rod) Patterson, Paul, Rebecca, Earl John (Tawnya), and Rachel (Eric) Reiser; grandchildren Tyler, Marinda, Jordan, Megan, Kevin, Samantha, Kylee, Stephanie, Ashley, Gavin, Lexi, Brooke, Haylee, and Blake; great grandchildren Erik, Shaynee, Kenadee, Aynzlee, Jex, Daymon, Charles, Derrick, Kyle, Aliyah, Eloise, Carter, Madeline, and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her husband David, daughter Stephanie, sister Norma Jo “Jody” McLaughlin, and grandson Chance.
There will be a visitation for Kathy on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 4310 South 3200 West, West Valley, Utah. The funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Graveside services will be also held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Goshen City Cemetery located at 10500 West 15800 South St, Goshen, Utah.

May 15, 2025 at 2:12 amI was so sad to hear of Kathy’s passing. I came to know and love her through teaching a few of her children in Kindergarten. She was a fun, sweet, person, who would do anything for you. She even helped tend my kids a little bit, when they were tiny, while I went to work. I had horses and boarded for a time, where Dave kept their “critters,” as she fondly called them! What a wonderful family she had, and what a great Mom she was! You will be missed Kathy!
